VERB TENSES

Present simple
USE: a fact or habit.
Key words: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never, every day, on Sundays, etc.

Present continuous
USE: an activity in progress at the present time
Key words: now, right now, at the moment, today, tonight, etc

Past simple
USE: an activity completed in the past.

Key words: yesterday, last week, last month, this morning (reference to the past), etc.

Past continuous
USE: an activity in progress at a particular time in the past
Key words: while

Present perfect simple


USE: an activity that started in the past and has connection with or continues in the present;
activity in past, but no time is mentioned; emphasis on repetition of activity in the past.

Key words: already, yet, just, ever, never, ___ times, since + a particular time (last year, 2015) , for
+ a duration of time (two years , three hours)

Future simple (will)


USE: an activity that will happen in the future.
will: used for predictions and spontaneous decisions.

Key words: tomorrow, next week, next month, etc.
