Simple Present Tense

Verbal Form

Positive : Subject + Verb.1 + Object + Adverb of Time


Negative : Subject + Do/Does + Object + Adverb of Time
Interrogative : Do/Does + Subject+ Verb.1 + Object + Adverb of Time + ?

Nominal Form

Positive : Subject + Tobe ( Is/Am /Are) + Noun/Adjective + Adverb of Time


Negative : Subject + Tobe ( Is/Am /Are) + Not + Noun/Adjective + Adverb
of Time
Interrogative : Tobe (Is/Am/Are) + Subject +
The Uses of Simple Present Tense (Kegunaan Simple Present Tense)
1. Simple Present Tense is used to express any activity or action done
repeatedly (repeated action) or habitual action
Simple Present Tense digunakan untuk menunjukkan suatu kejadian /
peristiwa /kegiatan yang terjadi /dilakukan berulang kali (repeated
action) atau merupakan suatu kebiasaan ( habitual action)

I/You/We /They + Verb Infinitive

She/He/It + Verb Invinitife +s/es

Examples:
I always get up early at 5 oclock in the morning.
Mother sometimes leaves for her office at 7 oclock.

2. Simple Present Tense is used to show the fact or general truth.


Simle Present Tense digunakan untuk menunjukkan suatu fakta(fact)
atau suatu kebenaran umum (general truth)
Examples:
Water boils at 100 degrees of Celcius.
My English teacher come from London.
The Sun shines in the east and sets in the west.

3. Simple Present Tense is used to express something ideal with any


schedule/program that would be done in the future.
Simple Present Tense digunakan untuk menunjukkan sesuatu yang
akan terjadi di waktu yang akan datang jika kita membicaraakan
suatu jadwal ,program dan lainnya.
Examples:
The exhibition opens at 10 oclock a.m
The third train leaves for Bandung at 9 a.m.

Simple Present Continous Tense


Positive : Subject + Tobe(Is,Am,Are) + Verb Ing + Object
Negative : Subject + Tobe(Is,Am,Are) + Not + Verb Ing
+Object
Interrogative : Tobe(Is,Am,Are) + Subject + Verb Ing +Object + ?

The Simple Present Continous Tense describe actions or situation in


progress at the moment of speaking. This includes activities that are
happening right now are current activities in a general nature.The tenses is
used for activities or situations that are temporary rather than permanent.
The time expsessions are often used with The Present Continous Tense are :
now,right now,at the moment, and today.expressions with this(this
morning,this quarter,and this semesters).
Examples:
Positive : Adit is taking a heavy load of classes this semester.
Negative : Adit is not taking a heavy load ofs classes this
semester.
Interrogative : Is Adit taking a heavy load of classes of this
semester?
Simple Past Tense
Simple Past Tense desribe actions or situations that began and ended in the
past.

Verbal Form

Positive : Subject + Verb.2 +Object +Adverb


Negative : Subject + did not + Verb.1 + Object +Adverb.
Interrogative : Did + Subject + Verb.1 + Object +Adverb +?

Examples:
Positive : My family and I spent our holiday in Bali Island.
Negative : My family and I did not spend our holiday in Bali Island.
Interrogative : Did My family and I spend our holiday in Bali Island ?

Positive : Subject + Tobe(Was/Were) + Noun / Adjective + Adverb
Negative : Subject + Tobe (Was/Were) +Not + Noun/Adjective +Adverb.
Interrogative : Tobe (Was/Were) + Subject +Noun /Adjective + Adverb +?.

Examples:
Positive : Agnes Monika was born in Jakarta in 1985
Negative : Agnes Monika was not born in Jakarta in 1985.
Interrogative : Was Agnes Monika born in Jakarta in 1985?.

Simple Present Perfect Tense

The Present Perpect Tense can describe an event that happened (did
not happen) at an unknown time in the past. No specific time in
given with this stataements. Adverb arefrequently used with The
Simple Present Perfect Tense : ( not ) yet,just, recently and already.

Negative : Subject + Tobe (Have/Has) + Not + Verb.3 +
Object Adverb
Interrogative : Tobe (Have/Has) + Subject +Verb.3 + Object

Examples:
Positive : Sarah has gone to a party at Salmans Apartement
last weekend.
Negative : Sarah has not gone to a party at Salmans
Apartement last weekend.
Interogative : Has Sarah gone to a party at Salmans Apartement?

Simple Future Tense

There are to tipe of Simple Future Tense


Be Going To is often sed to express specific future plan ,or
intentions. It is frequently used in conversation. We use Be Going To
when we say that we think will happen. Usually there is something
in the present situations that makes the speaker sure about what will
happen. Usally there is a little or no different in meaning between
Will and be Going To. Will and Be Going To indicated inevitability
because they express a simple factual about a future activity or
situation , but Be Going To is used more frequently than Will in
spoken English when the speaker is expressing a definite plan or
intentions.

Will Form
Positive : Subject + Tobe (Will/Shall ) + Verb.1 +Object
+Adverb
Negative : Subject + Tobe (Will/Shall) + Not + Verb.1 +Object
+ Adverb
Interrogative : Tobe( Will/Shall ) + Subject + Verb.1 + Object +
Adverb +?

Examples:
Positive:

Negative :

Be Going To
Positive : Subject + Tobe (Is/Am/Are) + Going To + Verb.1 + Object +
Adverb
Negative : Subject + Tobe (Is/Am / Are) Going To + Not + Verb.1 +Object

Interrogative : Tobe (Is/Am/Are) + Going To + Subject + Verb.1 + Object
+ Adverb +?

Examples:
Positive ;

Negative :
