Dear Parents & Guardians,

Our fourth grade team is excited to announce that we have a special week coming up very soon! The
week of March 20th 24th, all four 4th grade classes from Pine River will be spending the
week at Chippewa Nature Center (CNC) as part of CNCs Creek Week Program. Each day we will
cover academic material as usual, but it will be in the context of nature! Since this is such a unique
week there are a few details that we want to share.

Dressing for the weather:

Layers of clothing (that can get dirty!) for changing weather and moving from outdoors to indoors are
needed for children to enjoy the variety of activities offered throughout the day. You should expect
your child to go outside every day. The following is suggested for spring: rubber boots, jacket or
sweatshirt, rain jacket with a hood, and rain pants (or an extra pair of pants). If your child does not
have boots please have them wear closed-toed shoes (no flip-flops). Keep an eye on the forecast as you
may want to add a warm hat and gloves to the list as well.

Daily drop-off/Bus schedule:

Drop-off and pick-up will be at the school building as normalwhether this is by car or bus. After
arrival, we will load the bus as a class and go to the Nature Center. We will arrive back to school prior
to the end of the school day. If for some reason your child is late to school, then he/she should be
dropped off at the CNC and a parent must talk to a teacher before leaving the child.

Lunch:
We will eat a cold sack lunch each day. You may provide a sack lunch each day for your child or order
a weeks worth of lunches from the school. If your child currently receives free lunches, then the school
will provide free sack lunches for the week. Please complete and return the attached form.

What to pack: (Please label items with your childs name.)

Rain gear (boots & jacket) Daily lunch
Extra pair of pants Daily snack

If you need to reach your childs teacher during the day, please call the Chippewa Nature Center at
989-631-0830 and they can relay a message. Also, teachers will check their email periodically.
