Question 1

Read the following from Hammurabi's Code:

(law 3) If a man has borne false witness in a trial, or has not established the statement that he has made, if
that case be a capital trial, that man shall be put to death.

(law 4) If he has borne false witness in a civil law case, he shall pay the damages in that suit.

Judging from these two laws, you can surmise that the Babylonians put great value in:

a. being truthful (This is the correct answer.)

(I Selected) b. making distinctions between civil and capital cases

Got this wrogn mostly because I just didn't think that "a" was a reasonable sounding answer. I just
didn't think it through.

Question 2

Which of the following excerpts from Hammurabi's Code probably influenced our political
concept of "innocent until proven guilty"?

a. 3. "If any one bring an accusation of any crime before the elders, and does not prove what he
has charged, he shall, if it be a capital offense charged, be put to death..." (This is the correct
answer.)

(I Selected) b. 22. "If any one is committing a robbery and is caught, then he shall be put to
death..."

I misread it and rushed. Thought it said "and proves he was charged" or something like that.

Question 9

Identify the 8 Characteristics of Civilization from the choices provided. (Select all that apply)

Missed two, (Cities and Art and Archetecture) just didn't remember them from the text book or
anything.
