WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME
AN EAGE STUDENT CHAPTER
EAGE Student Chapters provide a platform for geoscience
students to meet, exchange ideas and initiate activities
with the support of EAGE. As a Student Chapter you
would operate under the EAGE flag and collaborate with
EAGEs Student Affairs Department in order to promote
geosciences as well as the overall EAGE student activities
within your university and beyond!

HOW TO GET STARTED


Find 15 students to become EAGE student members (active
Chapters will receive 15 free memberships every year!)
Find a faculty advisor (EAGE member) that will support
and guide the Student Chapter
Appoint a President, Secretary and Treasurer
Advisable: find at least one local company or entity for
(financial) support of your activities
YOURE OFFICIAL! NOW WHAT?
Promote EAGE within your student community
Encourage more students to join EAGE and the
Student Chapter
Submit proposals to the EAGE Student Affairs
Department for local student events, workshops,
field trips, etc.
Organize meetings for your Student Chapter
Participate in EAGE organized activities (Online
Geo-Quiz, FIELD Challenge, annual EAGE Student
Programme, etc.)
New ideas are welcome. Be creative!

QUIZ TIME!
Compete in the Online Geo-Quiz (held every year in March)
and win travel grants to the annual EAGE Conference &
Exhibition for 3 of your Chapter members. This opportunity
is exclusive for EAGE Student Chapters. The Online Geo-
Quiz is a competition where you will have to answer up to
20+ geoscience related multiple choice questions. The prize
goes to the best EAGE Student Chapters.

STUDENT FUND?
The EAGE Student Fund supports all
EAGE student activities, including the
Student Chapters, in order to provide
students with continually improving
programmes and activities. The EAGE
Student Fund is sponsored by Shell.

Qualifications for a student membership: the (full-time) student must


be registered at a recognized university / institute and must be no
older than 34 when applying. First time applicants ( 29 years old) may
also register for a sponsored student membership; find out more on
www.eage.org!

STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Student conference programmes
Workshops, short courses, recruitment activities,
motivational lectures, Geo-Quiz competitions, exhibition
tours, student evenings, and more. Student conference
programmes provide students with the right combination
of education, career, and network opportunities.
Scholarships and awards
EAGE offers several scholarships and awards to students.
Examples are the Thomsen/BP scholarship for the North
American University and Heriot-Watt University, and the
Gustavo Sclocchi Award for Italian diploma graduates as
well as PhD students.

Student Lecture Tours


EAGE collaborates with universities and EAGE student
chapters worldwide to provide students with half-day
lectures on an interesting geoscience-related topic to
students from different disciplines and levels.

EAGE FIELD Challenge


The EAGE FIELD Challenge gives students the opportunity
to analyze and propose a FIELD development plan for a
discovered hydrocarbon resource. This prestigious
challenge includes travel grants to EAGEs Conference
& Exhibition, as well as a 3000,- voucher for the
winning team.

EAGE Regional Geo-Quiz


One of the most popular student features during the EAGE
Conference & Exhibition is the Geo-Quiz. It is the best
way to put learned knowledge and skills to the test and
compete with and against fellow students from all over the
world. EAGE also organizes regional Geo-Quizzes around
the world. Winners will receive full travel funding to the
EAGE Annual Meeting.

Travel grants
Students cannot always afford the costs of attending
workshops or field trips. Therefore, EAGE offers travel
grants to particular events togive students the opportunity
to participate.
