What We are learning this week: 2/10 100th day of school

We have been reading different types of folktales and using story elements to determine the moral of each
story. We will be using this skill to compare t wo different versions of the same fable or folktale. In
grammar we have been using a thesaurus to expand our vocabulary when writing and have been learning
about adjectives. We have started learning about writing an opinion piece and are still learning to develop a
strong topic sentence for our supporting details. In Math we have been working on 2 and 3-digit
subtraction with and without regrouping and will begin learning about time and money. In Science we have
been learning about sound and will begin our new PLTW unit on weather and the water cycle. In Social
Studies we will be learning about the importance of Presidents Day and will work on a biography project to
celebrate the accomplishments of African Americans for Black History Month.
