5. Statement provided by institution

Advance Tertiary College (ATC) was formed in 1987 to provide local educational opportunities for
school-leavers and working adults. The emphasis at that time was to provide Malaysian students
with access to professional and tertiary education, particularly legal education. Since its inception
ATC has served the community with its brand of excellent education at affordable prices for 25 years

In this time, ATC has become the largest independent Law School in the Asian region with two
campuses in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Penang), one in Singapore and a joint venture partnership
in Hong Kong with the publicly funded Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Its Business School has
also grown to offer a variety of Certificate and Diploma programmes that are contemporary and
market-driven.

ATC's growth in the last quarter of a century can be credited to its strong commitment to excellence
and academia. This is created in a manner that allows the adoption of teaching-learning
methodologies and the provision of research facilities that are student-centric and geared towards
enhancing and improving academic performance.

The University of London recognises the excellence produced by the team at ATC. Prof. Dr. Wayne
Morrison, Immediate Past Director of the University of London External Undergraduate Laws
Programme states that ATC has groomed students on the University of London programme to
achieve First Class Honours and Second Class Upper Honours degrees and is the single largest
institution in the world to produce such results on the University of London Law degree
programme. ATC was also one of only 5 institutions worldwide recognised for excellence in
conjunction with the University of Londons 150th year anniversary celebrations

5. Statement provided by institution

It has been more than 25 years since the establishment of Advance Tertiary College (ATC).
Formed in 1987, our institution has maintained its unwavering course in providing a much needed
high quality and yet affordable education to school leavers as well as working adults. Since then,
ATC has grown immensely. Driven by the goal of academic excellence, we have now expanded
our reach beyond Kuala Lumpur, to affiliations and campuses in Singapore, Hong Kong and
Penang.

ATC's campus in Penang being situated in the city-centre of Georgetown, a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, is a place of study of many students in the northern region of peninsular Malaysia.
Located in Menara UMNO, the Penang Campus offers primarily, among others, the Bachelor of
Laws (University of London International Programme).

ATCs high quality of education and long term commitment to teaching and support provided to
students is well recognised. Its teaching faculty is a balance of legal practitioners and academics,
offering invaluable and different perspectives to its students with aspiring careers in mind.

Within four years of establishing itself in Penang, Rhubinii Nataraja was awarded the Malaysian
Law Scholarship by Kings College London in 2004. This was followed by Rani Preatarshini
Subassandran who was also awarded the scholarship in 2007 by being the best Year 1 student in
the world with a total score of 277 marks. She graduated from Kings College London with a First
Class Honours Degree. In addition, ATC Penang has also produced many graduates with to
academic excellence of world class standards. To name a few, they are Stephanie Choong, Teh Yu
Yu, Goh Jun Geng and Joachim Xavier.

To sum it all up, ATC Penang would be the right and affordable choice for students who wish to
take their first step towards a fulfilling legal career. It is indeed a one-stop centre for legal studies
in Penang and the northern region of Malaysia.
