What can Jesus and Adele tell us about face recognition?

Dr. Andrew Edmonds is a Lecturer in Psychology at Staffordshire University. He is interested in why
some people seem to never forget a face, and what factors are important in faces becoming
familiar to us over time. Psychologists have been investigating the processes of face recognition for
over 50 years.

In this talk, Andrew will give an overview of just some of the research that has been conducted in
that time, and try to answer some real world questions, such as: do humans make reliable
eyewitnesses? Might you be a super-recognizer? Are males or females better at recognising faces?
And what can Jesus and Adele tell us, if anything, about face recognition? (Clue: more than you
might think!)
