ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY: Students are to be in their seats, quiet, and

logged into their accounting program by the time the start-of-class bell rings.
Students are not to line up at the door prior the the end-of-class bell. Privileges,
such as chewing gum or listening to music in class, will depend on the classs
ability to start work on time and continue working to the end of class. (Dont
worry - there will be opportunities throughout the lesson to move around and
talk!)

COMMUNICATION: Students are expected to check their school email and our
Google Classroom site regularly for announcements regarding assignments and
schedules. Because documents will be distributed electronically, you must
inform me immediately if there is a problem retrieving them. Problems with due
dates and exams must be discussed with me before the exam date or due
date. Student athletes and those who will not be in class due to a university
activity need to turn in work prior to leaving. The best way to reach me is
through email, which I check at least once a day. If you have a concern or
question you need to discuss at length, I am available for appointments before
or after school, but please set up the appointment ahead of time.

CELL PHONES, COMPUTERS, AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Maple River

Schools has a No Cell Phone policy in place, which will be adhered to in this
class. We will be using desktop computers and/or Chromebooks for most of our
assignments. Students are expected to be on task while using these devices. If a
student goes off task (game playing, web surfing), they will earn a special seat in
the classroom that will allow me to more closely monitor activity. If off task
activities are still a problem, a parent contact and/or referral to the office will be
made.

FOOD AND DRINK: A water bottle is allowed in this class. All other food or drink
(including chewing gum) is a privilege, which may be granted on certain
occasions.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Accommodations will be based on Maple River Schools

policy.

GRADING: To determine your final grade in the course, I will calculate your
percentage by dividing your total earned points by the total points possible.
These will be converted to letter grades as follows:
100-94% = A 90-87% = B+ 79-77% = C+ 69-67% = D+
93-90% = A- 86-84% = B 76-74% = C 66-64% = D
83-80% = B- 73-70% = C- < 65% = F

ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION: Many assignments will be completed in our online

accounting classroom. The student and I will have access to these assignments,
so there will be no need to turn in anything. Some assignments will be in hard
copy and require students to put completed copies in the "Coursework Drop
Box" on the paperwork station near the door. All hard copy assignments, quizzes,
and tests will go to the inbox assigned to this class period.

LATE WORK: Late work will be accepted until 2 weeks prior to the end of quarter.
Late work in Quarter 1 will be accepted until Oct. 27th. Late work in Quarter 2
will be accepted until Jan. 6th. Late work is not eligible for resubmission for a
higher grade. Students with outstanding late work will not be eligible to
participate in privileges or rewards within the class. Late assignments will post in
the gradebook as a zero until they have been submitted and graded by the
teacher. Grading of late work can take up to a week after the work has been
submitted. If more than 3 late assignments are submitted at once, grading can
take up to 2 weeks.

RESUBMISSIONS: Resubmissions are allowed in this course. Because many of the

assignments and tests are completed through an online student website, the
following procedures may be modified to allow for resubmission of
assignments/assessments. The procedures for resubmission follow:

Assignment Resubmission
All students have the option earn a higher grade by resubmitting
assignments after feedback has been received on most assignments.
Some assignments may not have the option to resubmit, due the nature
of the assignment; such as presentations to the class. However, there may
be portions that can be worked. Resubmissions encourage deeper
understanding of the materials, because students are able to immediately
use feedback to improve their work.
Rules for Re-submitting Assignments
Original assignment received on or before due date
Original assignment complete prior to initial submission (partially
completed assignments are not eligible for resubmission)
Resubmission submitted to Mrs. Farrow within 3 days of the student
receiving feedback
No limit on resubmissions:
o as long as the student continues to resubmit within 3 days of
receiving feedback
o until 4 days before the end of the semester

Summative Assessment (Test/Quiz) Resubmission

All students have the option earn a higher grade by retaking most
summative assessments. Some assessments may not have the option to
retake, due the nature of the assessment; such as presentations to the
class. However, there may be portions that can be worked. Retakes
encourage deeper understanding of the materials, because students can
see what areas need additional practice/study and devote time to that
material before the retake.
Rules for Re-submitting Summative Assessments
Students must fill out and parents must sign the Request to
Retest form
Students can only retake each summative assessment once
If the assessment requires the student to be in my classroom, an
appointment must be made to complete it during my prep period,
study hall period, or after school
A completed Request to Retest form must be received and an
appoint to retest must be made within one week of receiving
feedback on the assessment
o Note: the actual appointment doesnt need to happen within
a week, but the student needs to clear the appointment time
with me within a week

Semester Test Resubmission

Semester tests are not eligible for resubmission.

PLAGIARISM/ACADEMIC OFFENSES: Plagiarism is a serious offense and will be

treated as such. A student suspected of plagiarism will take part in a
parent/teacher/student conference. Principal Simon and the Dean of Students,
Mrs. Phillips, may attend the conference as well. If the student is found to have
plagiarized, school policy dictates that the assignment receive zero credit. In
addition, the student will be required to complete the assignment under
supervision in Mrs. Farrows classroom before or after school. If the plagiarized
assignment is not completed under supervision and resubmitted, the student will
receive an incomplete for the course.
