ABASTRACT
Research on the metallurgy of super duplex stainless steels are common and little is known
of the same machining, which allows to evaluate the influence of the principal cutting edge
angle and cutting parameters on machining forces, temperature of region cutting, surface
integrity and tool life when turning this material. By using DOE, we observed the
dependence of response variables against the influence, as well as their correlation. The
cutting force showed higher when using the lower principal cutting edge angle and higher
values of depth of cut and feed. The cutting speed, despite having relation with the
resistance of the material, did not influence the machining forces. It was observed that the
temperature in the cutting region is greater for the middle principal cutting edge angle, this
is the condition which showed better surface roughness in terms of integrity.
