What is it?
This template provides a structured format for talking to identified stakeholders and for collecting information about the level of impact the proposed
change will have on them and their business areas. It also covers potential ways of mitigating or reducing that level of impact for each stakeholder and
business area affected by the change.
The Change Management Impact Assessment is a critical piece of work on any change implementation. The reason the Impact Assessment is so
important is it provides a clear document which records exactly what will be changing. In doing so you will understand what is required to effectively
manage the change and transition to the new way of working.
Completion of the Change Impact Assessment in collaboration with identitifed stakeholders allows them to have an input into the choice of actions that
will be taken to support them. Giving people choices gives them control resulting in engagement and increased likelihood that the change implementation
will be viewed as positive. There are many different ways to complete an Impact Assessment. The template that follows is one example. The Impact
Assessment, like all other tools in the Change Management Framework, needs to be scaled to fit the change initiative. For example, it is possible with a
large project which has significant impacts to peoples jobs and the structure they work in, that additional impact assessment work will be required which
focuses specifically on Jobs and Structures.
