Legal:
As I am using a song that is copyrighted by Elliot Moss label, I would need to ask permission.
However, as this is for educational purposes, as long as I dont platform my FMP on YouTube or any
social media platform, I wont need to ask for permission, as it is for personal use. Within the
copyright law it states:
You are allowed to copy limited extracts of works when the use is non-commercial research or private
study, but you must be genuinely studying (like you would if you were taking a college course). Such
use is only permitted when it is fair dealing and copying the whole work would not generally be
considered fair dealing.
The purpose of this exception is to allow students and researchers to make limited copies of all types
of copyright works for non-commercial research or private study. In assessing whether your use of the
work is permitted or not you must assess if there is any financial impact on the copyright owner
because of your use. Where the impact is not significant, the use may be acceptable.
If your use is for non-commercial research you must ensure that the work you reproduce is supported
by a sufficient acknowledgement.
Teaching:
Several exceptions allow copyright works to be used for educational purposes, such as:
the copying of works in any medium as long as the use is solely to illustrate a point, it is not
done for commercial purposes, it is accompanied by a sufficient acknowledgement, and the
use is fair dealing. This means minor uses, such as displaying a few lines of poetry on an
interactive whiteboard, are permitted, but uses which would undermine sales of teaching
materials are not
Ethical:
Within my music video I am not representing a certain race, religion, or gender, in a certain way, nor
am I generalizing one of these groups. I am using one female in my music video, and this wasnt a
specific requirement as shown through my contingency plans where my brother will step in place if
anything were to happen to Lorna. In my experimental music video I am only trying to get the
meaning across of depression and happiness, and how I feel when I am going through this. As what I
am demonstrating is a personal exploration of emotions. I wont be remotely implying nor conveying
any discrimination towards any gender, race, or so forth, it is simply an artistic music video
representing emotions.
