Hormonal game
annotation
What actually factors affect the growth of the beard? How to increase the level of
testosterone? Why do men grow female breasts, and how to prevent it? The book "Hormone game"
I dedicated it strong half of mankind. In it you will find answers to all these questions, and learn
how to control your hormones, to correctly interpret the value of analyzes and not fall into the trap
of inexperienced doctors.

Prologue
You've heard of such a thing as the "butterfly effect." The small differences in the initial
conditions give rise to enormous changes in the final phenomena. So, to paraphrase it is closer to
our subject, I want to say that a slight violation of the level of hormones in the present, can lead to
serious consequences in the future. This is the difference between them, the usual for us, medical
diseases. Hormonal problems usually do not show up immediately, but gradually change our
appearance, worsen the state of health and completely change our consciousness. Way of thinking,
outlook on life, anxiety, fears, experiences - all closely related to hormones. This book contains
materials collected by me over many years of study of the physiology of the male body, the
hormone human background, as well as a number of other features of our body. Here and now we
will dispel a lot of myths associated with hormones, learn how to time to diagnose serious diseases
and to determine the order, which is still the role hormones play in our lives.

Testosterone, LH and FSH

Let's start from the beginning. Testosterone is the main male hormone. It is synthesized by the
testes of men, or to be more precise, the Leydig cells, located between the seminiferous tubules in
the testes in response to stimulation by LH, which is released by the pituitary gland. Here is such a
complex mechanism of nature. But this is not the complete chain: first, the hypothalamus produces
gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which gives a signal to the pituitary gland to produce
luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). Our testicles contain some cells:
Leydig and Sertoli. First, by stimulating Lyuteiniziruyushego hormone produced by testosterone,
the second, receiving a signal from FSH, regulate spermatogenesis. In total, we get the following
scheme: "The hypothalamus - pituitary - testes." In this mechanism, there is also feedback: with an
increase in the level of testosterone, decreases the production of LH, and at too rapid formation of
sperm is reduced and the amount of FSH sets a homeostasis. It would seem that the system is
completely consistent and should work without interruption, in the default mode, creating a smooth
tone of testosterone throughout life. But, unfortunately, there are a number of factors that affect the
production of this hormone. Primarily, this is:

Sleep

You see friends, testosterone is produced at night, so if you sleep less than 6 hours a day,
make sure you are going to suffer from its lack. Normalize sleep / wake and feel like you back
vitality.

animal fats

And what about fat? After all, the media and doctors unanimously repeat to us that this is
one big damage, but apparently they forget the fact that testosterone secreted by Leydig cells of
cholesterol, yes, the same bad cholesterol, which is found in animal saturated fats. So eat more fat
and stop pace yourself diets. The daily rate of fat for a man to be not less than 1 g per 1 kg of its
own body weight. The optimal ratio, which I consider the most appropriate, is 1.5 g / 1 kg of body
weight.

Lack of vitamins and minerals

The diet should be as varied and balanced to provide the body with all it needs of micro and
macro elements. But if your goal is to maintain a high production of testosterone, you need some of
them to take additional supplements. Namely:
Vitamin E - 200 mg / day
Vitamin D - 10 mcg / day
Zinc - 30 mg / day
Vitamin E has strong antioxidant properties and increases response testes in response to
stimulation with gonadotropins.
Vitamin D is synthesized in skin exposed to UV - rays, and can also come from food. It is an
important component of testosterone. If you are a resident of the northern countries, or you have
most of the year the winter, you should take this vitamin supplements.
Zinc is truly the king among the micronutrients, which has an incredible range of activities
for the whole organism of the man, but as for our specialization, it is the building blocks for
testosterone molecule. I think that these words are enough to recognize its necessity. The duration
of receiving the course - 1 month. I advise you to take 2 - 3 courses per year.

Age

Unfortunately, sleep aging, fat and vitamins, we do not stop, though considerably slowed
down. Testosterone peaks in puberty, ie from 16 to 24 years. It was during these years can be seen
the highest level of this hormone, and then begin a constant decline, which each year will select you
vigor, sexual desire and the desire to conquer new heights. In total, to 45 years of your testosterone
will remain only traces of past victories and, most likely, if you care about your health and visit the
clinic regularly, your doctor will write you a prescription for a long ester testosterone and put you
on HRT (hormone replacement therapy). This is very true in the West, where most people solve
their problems in a similar way. But there is another way, which I will discuss at the end of this
chapter, so be patient. And now I'd like to talk about what the level of testosterone is the absolute
norm for men.
So you passed the tests and have difficulty with interpretation of the results. It would seem
that everything is within the reference laboratory values, but it is not clear whether this is good or
bad. Let's start with the fact that testosterone standards are different in different countries.
Experience and practice have shown that the levels of 15 nmol / l - 40 nmol / l is the most optimal
performance of your health. That's what you need to aim at any age - it's 23 - 30 nmol / L. And
remember, you need to take the test for testosterone total, free, in the context of single-control - not
informative.
To start the diagnostics, you also need to know your values LH and FSH. In the meantime, I
would like to add that the testosterone levels of 40 nmol / l is extremely rare, even in adolescence,
so if you happen to have this value, congratulations, you have to have steel balls! Well, the results
prepared? Then we begin to decipher.
I want to give you the 4 most common scenarios:
1) The level of LH and FSH in the lower normal range, while the testosterone is around 23 -
40 nmol / l. It's just benchmarks, because in our system, "hypothalamus - pituitary gland - testicles"
we have feedback, and the higher the testosterone, at low values of LH and FSH, the better your
testicles are responding to stimulation of the pituitary gland. Such indicators of the three hormones
in the adjustment does not need, no matter what age you are.
2) LH level is normal, testosterone around 20 - 40 nmol / l, but higher than normal FSH. This
is an isolated violation of seminiferous epithelium. It may cause infertility in men. In any case, this
is a good reason to see a doctor, especially if you can not conceive a child for a long time. He must
carry out a comprehensive survey and identify the causes of violations. If they fail to remove, you
should be offered therapy with MGCH (human menopausal gonadotropin), which is used for the
stimulation of Sertoli cells, so that they, in turn, launched spermatogenesis. If successful the
treatment, your wife will be able to please you with 2 strips on the test.
3) The level of LH and FSH in the upper limit of normal, or outside it, and testosterone in the
region of 12 - 16 nmol / L. It's not a good sign, because for some reason, your testicles poorly
responsive to HCG and are unable to produce the testosterone level that you need. It will be
necessary to carry out ultrasound scrotum and the results go to the doctor. This can be as infectious
lesion testicles and their appendages, and varicocele and a number of other factors. The specialist
will need to determine the cause of disturbances and prescribe appropriate treatment. If any problem
you can not find, then we can talk about the beginning of hypogonadism, or primary or
normogonadotropic. You should be offered therapy HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which
replaces the action of luteinizing hormone, but in a rather rude manner, causing your testes to
operate at full capacity. It is very important to choose the correct dosage, because if you overdo it,
the effect can be the exact opposite of the desired effect. Also, prolonged and uncontrolled use of
hCG increases the risk of cancer. Therefore, the dose should not exceed 500 IU / day every 4 days,
lasting no more than 1 month. More serious dosage is only used in severe cases. After therapy,
usually a decrease in production of gonadotropins your own, but when the treatment is correct, it is
reversible. A month after the last injection is necessary to retake tests, and if the LH and FSH will
be in the mean values of the norm, and testosterone to rise at least 20 nmol / L, therapy can be
considered successful. Control dynamics carried out every 3 - 6 months. Possible repeated courses
of hCG at dosages that do not exceed the above, if there is no other reason.
4) And here we are getting to the most common problem, especially among men aged. The
level of LH and FSH is low, and with it, low and testosterone. Your pituitary gonadotropins
produces very sluggish, resulting in an inadequate stimulation of the testes to produce the male
hormone and maintain spermatogenesis. As mentioned above, more than 65% of cases the cause of
this disease is the age of the remaining 35% is divided between an uncontrolled use of performance-
enhancing drugs and diseases of the pituitary, or other organs, affecting its function. Therefore it is
very important to make the correct diagnosis in order to exclude any or pathology.
I would like to add a few words about anabolic steroids. The mechanism of their effect on its
own production of LH and FSH is very simple: all the drugs in this group, in one degree or another,
are derivatives of testosterone, or have a similar effect to it. At their regular use, the body stops the
production of gonadotropins and consequently its own testosterone, because this necessity
disappears. If the duration of the reception was not more than one month, then at the end of therapy,
your hormones will fall into some pit, as the flow of hormones from the outside has stopped and its
own production has not really started. Such a short period of time does not slam your pituitary
gland, and because after 2-3 months hormones back to normal. But whether it will reach its former
level - remains a mystery. This rule applies only to young men under the age of 30 years, which is
still quite high activity of their hormones. The older you get, the greater the likelihood that even
after months of steroids your pituitary gland will fall asleep and never wake up without assistance.
Suppose you were examined: did an MRI of the pituitary, passed all the necessary tests and no
major deviations not identified. Then the source of the problems likely to be the age, or the abuse of
hormone drugs, and can be immediately both. In any case, the solution to these problems is one - is
the use of preparations of "Antiestrogens" (AE). These have been developed mainly for treating
breast cancer, as well as for the onset of ovulation in women. But what does all this have to do with
testosterone?
Estrogens are though the female hormones, but also contains small amounts of men
performing a number of important functions. Getting to our organism, AE block female hormones
receptors in the hypothalamus, so much so that he begins to think that their body is not at all
(although their level in the blood remains constant). To fix the hypothalamus starts to actively
produce GnRH, which in turn, stimulates the pituitary gland to produce increased amounts of LH
and FSH. If you still do not see the connection between estrogen and gonadotropins, I explain:
almost all female hormones we get them through the conversion of testosterone due to the
aromatase enzyme. Therefore, in the hope to raise the level of estradiol (the most active estrogen),
our hypothalamus increases testosterone levels. Here is such a pleasant side effect * * men have
drugs in this group.
The range of the AE in the market is quite small, so they have a very narrow specialization.
Each has its advantages and disadvantages, but the choice of the reference to the solution of our
problem is "clomiphene citrate". It blocks the receptors exclusively in the hypothalamus, the list has
the lowest side effects and most likely a sectional studied our subjects. Apart from individual
reactions of intolerance, you may encounter problems such as mood changes, hot flashes to the face,
spasm of accommodation, etc. I would like to add a little clarity with regards to the last point. Quite
often, when receiving any AE in humans is deteriorating visual acuity. It is 100% reversible effect
after discontinuation of the drug, after 2 - 4 weeks, everything will return to its original state.
Returning to the issue of HRT, I would like to add that not all doctors are aware of such
properties of antiestrogens and clinics, where their application is active, you can count on one hand.
If there are no contraindications, and receive the AE does not cause you any side effects, I think it is
an excellent alternative to hormone replacement therapy. Talk to your doctor, tell him about
clomiphene citrate. Well, we turn to the next item on our list.

Estrogens
Estrogens - a female steroid hormones subclass, which consists of estrone, estradiol and
estriol. They play a vital role in the body of a man, namely involved in the process of
spermatogenesis, are responsible for libido and erectile function, regulate bone density, as well as
monitor the normal operation of the nervous system. We are interested in particular estradiol, since
it is the most active in the human body. In normal men it should be in the range of 20 - 60 pg / ml.
If the level is exceeded, we are faced with the relevant side effects, in the form of fat deposits on the
female type, breast enlargement, increased blood pressure, lack of sexual desire and more. Also,
high levels of estradiol invariably entail a reduction in production of gonadotropins, around the
same, familiar to us a feedback mechanism. But his record low (& lt; 20 pg / ml) does not portend
anything good. You can feel the tiredness, crunch and joint pains, increased cholesterol levels in the
blood, bone fragility, etc. Therefore, in all important balance.
Not so long ago, I spoke of this enzyme as aromatase, which converts testosterone to
estradiol. Its concentration in the body depends mainly on three factors:
- age
- heredity
- excess weight
The older we get, the greater will be the aromatization of male hormones in the female. On
the second point, I think, too, everything is clear. But what does the extra weight to the aromatase?
The thing is that this enzyme is produced and accumulated in the fat cells. So if you have elevated
levels of estradiol, the first thing you need to put in order the weight, and then to think about
possible violations. But there are cases where the percentage of body fat is not the source of the
problem. And our good tradition, I give you four examples of such cases:
1) Estradiol is at the upper limit of normal, but with him high and testosterone. It is absolutely
healthy situation, which does not require any foreign intervention. The higher you will be working
out of the male hormone, the higher will be its conversion into a female.
2) the estradiol is in the middle of the reference value or below, whereas testosterone reaches
24 - 40 nmol / l. Such tests do not often see, and if you like the results you can safely put them in a
frame. There are, as a rule, people with a low percentage of body fat, as well as in those who are
genetically endowed with low testosterone aromatization. In my humble opinion, this ratio is the
best in terms of appearance and health.
3) in the region of Estradiol 55 - 75 pg / ml, testosterone with 12 - 18 nmol / l. Your hormonal
balance is shifted towards the female hormones. Most likely, there is a problem with overweight
and needs to be addressed. Consult a good nutritionist that will help you normalize the diet, but not
trim too much fat, as this could further hit your, already low, testosterone. After 2 - 3 months retake
tests to look at the dynamics. Continue weight loss until it reaches the level of estradiol in the 40 -
45 pg / ml.
4) considerably exceeds the rate of estradiol (2-fold or more), while the testosterone level may
be around 15 - 30 nmol / l. If you receive such results it is mandatory to take the following
measures:
- To retake the tests in other laboratories.
- Make ultrasound of the liver, as well as deliver the biochemistry of blood to determine the
level of enzymes.
- To hand over blood and urine content of beta - hCG and conduct a survey of the testicles.
Well, let's start with the fact that your analyzes could simply confuse or specify invalid
values, so it is better to retake them in several other laboratories. If all indicators are similar among
themselves (with an accuracy of 10%), then the problem is definitely there and you need to look for
the cause.
Liver check because it serves utilizer hormones, or any pathology and can disrupt this
function, then it will limit their excretion. If the problem is detected, you must visit the hepatologist
who will prescribe the appropriate treatment, then your estradiol should normalize itself.
Beta - HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin - a hormone produced by pregnant women.
Increasing its level at the stronger sex (& gt; 5 IU / L), provided that you do not take drugs based on
it, along with a high estradiol, may signal testicular neoplasm. You've probably heard of situations
where the pregnancy test in men showed a positive result. Now, this may not be the manufacturer's
error, and serious pathology, as all tests are designed to determine precisely the increased levels of
beta - hCG in urine, which begins to actively produced in expectant mothers. It is therefore
necessary to carry out ultrasound or MRI testicle and urgently appeal to the oncologist - a urologist
to determine further action.

prolactin
It is time to talk about the least significant hormone in the male body - prolactin. This peptide
hormone consisting of 199 amino acids produced by the anterior pituitary. In women, it initiates and
maintains lactation and men responsible for the immune system, supports the libido and
spermatogenesis. The structure is very similar to growth hormone, given the inherent to their
circadian rhythm of secretion. Its peak concentration occurs immediately after awakening,
therefore, strongly recommend to wait 3 - 4 hours before the blood test. Also, 24 hours is necessary
to remove all of the factors affecting its production, namely, stress, exercise and sexual intercourse.
At least 2 - 3 months that the admission of drugs and supplements that increase prolactin levels,
such as:
- Antidepressants, antipsychotics, antihistamines
- D - aspartic acid
- Anabolic Steroids with progestin activity
- A group of peptides GHRP and GHRH.
After completing all of these conditions, you can get the most adequate assessment of your
level of prolactin.
In order to maintain all the useful properties of this hormone in the male body with sufficient
values are 50 - 150 IU / L. Indicators to 250 IU / L, as would be considered normal, but the higher
figures may lead to the development of unpleasant effects as gynecomastia (sometimes even with
the release of the teat clear liquid), the accumulation of excessive amounts of water in the body,
thereby increasing pressure, the formation of a very loose and flabby physique, reduced
testosterone, etc.
In recent years there has been an increasing tendency to increase prolactin at what equally in
both men and women. Less than 40% of people diagnosed with this disease themselves, but not all
of them treat it. As a rule, against a background of prolonged and unsuccessful attempts to have a
baby, the couple deals with this problem in the clinic. After passing all tests found that one of them
(or maybe two at the same time) increased prolactin. The doctor appoints treatment (if it is a good
doctor), the results of which, pregnancy occurs. But when the goal is achieved, many of these
people forget about controlling hormone, devoting all his spare time for the child, and the doctor, in
turn, does not try to find the source of hyperprolactinemia, but just temporarily treats its
investigation. This approach is fundamentally wrong, because the reasons for which may increase
prolactin levels serious enough. Assuming that you followed all the recommendations before blood
sampling for analysis, of which I spoke a little higher, I would like to provide you with the most
common ones:
1) Problems with the liver and the kidneys, hypothyroidism (in which, together with increased
prolactin and TSH), autoimmune disease, hyperprolactinaemia and also unclear origin may lead to
an increase of the hormone to the level of 500 - 550 mU / l.
2) If the level exceeds the limit of 600 mU / l - this is a strong reason to go pituitary screening
for the presence of a microadenoma (up to 1 cm), which causes an increase in prolactin. The best
way to diagnose a MRI. It must be carried out with the introduction of the contrast agent on the
device power not less than 3T. Otherwise, your doctor may simply not see so little education.
Usually doctors do not prescribe tomography in patients with prolactin level of at least 1000 IU / L.
I will not comment on the competence of these healers only say one thing: if prolactinoma (this is
the name of this tumor has) a very small size - it does not mean that it is not there, and that it does
not increase with time.
Whatever it was, and pituitary tumor and other causes of elevated prolactin levels are treated
with prescription drugs called 'Cabergoline'. The difference is only in the dosage and duration of
reception. If you have observed a high level of this hormone (600 - 800 IU / L), but, for some
reason, you have doubts about the feasibility of MRI, I suggest you drink Cabergoline 0.25 mg once
every 7 days, during the month ( after referring to the instructions). Hand over the analysis
immediately after the end of treatment and after 15 days. If after 2 weeks of the last dose, prolactin
well below the initial value and is within the normal range, the reason may not be in the adenoma,
while it was only a temporary improvement. Retake the analysis several times, with a periodicity of
1 times a month, to track the dynamics and to find out whether the problem is solved.
If you see that after cabergoline prolactin fell sharply, and after 15 days returned to the former
level, then a 80% chance you prolactinoma and imaging is still necessary. If my assumptions are
true, do not worry - it is treated quite successfully. Find a good specialist, who, after studying your
medical history, put the correct diagnosis, and select for you the most effective dose of the drug.
Cabergoline therapy usually lasts from 6 months to 2 years (depending on the initial size of the
tumor and its hormonal activity).

SHBG
Sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) - is a glycoprotein, which is produced mainly in the
liver. Once in the bloodstream, it connects with estrogens, anabolic hormones, and certain other,
thereby lowering their activity. A kind of natural defense mechanism, warning us of hormonal
bursts. That part of the hormones that are associated SHBG, it is simply useless, so the theory that it
protects them from rapid elimination by the body, is fundamentally not true.
By and large, the difference between total and free testosterone is precisely the level of
SHBG: the lower it is, the more free hormones will get your cells. Normally, the blood levels
should be in the range of 20 - 50 nmol / l. The change in its level may be due to several reasons, but
I would like to highlight five of the most common ones:
1) The higher the level of sex hormones, the higher SHBG. Our body always strives to
maintain homeostasis in the body and when, for one reason or another, begins active production of
hormones, SHBG levels increased for the purpose of this surplus to put into some sort of cage,
which will not allow them to get to the organs - targets. But it is worth noting that not all of this
mechanism is triggered. There are cases when people with high levels of anabolic hormones and
estrogen have genetically low globulin. In this situation, there are both advantages and
disadvantages. The positive features include the fact that almost all the testosterone is produced in
the body remains in a free form, thereby creating a surplus. But in exactly the same position it is
and estradiol, but its excess can lead to unpleasant consequences. So everything is good in
moderation.
2) If your tests revealed excessive levels of SHBG, at normal ratio of sex hormones, it is a
chance to check the liver, after which a malfunction can provide the appropriate level of globulin,
90% of which is produced in it. After treatment of the underlying disease SHBG levels normalized
itself.
3) Age man. During puberty and active growth, when the blood is raging growth hormone
(also known as growth hormone), we observed reduced levels of the hormone-binding globulin. The
fact is that the growth hormone as an endogenous (produced in the body) and exogenous (coming
from outside) reduces its level in the blood. In childhood and old age, on the contrary, SHBG level
increases.
4) Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Excessive thyroid function globulin will be
increased, and at the lack of - to drop.
5) low level it can also be observed when receiving anabolic steroids (preferably in the form
of oral forms of these drugs).
If you have liver problems are not found in normal sex hormones, age up to 40 years, and
SHBG levels are too high or too low, then it's probably just your normal and healthy. in general it is
not necessary to worry about the small of his blood. Well, physiologically high globulin you are
unlikely to bring down the long-term. Acceptance of anabolic steroids, growth hormone or
androgen exclusively for this purpose is a very stupid idea. And the use of growth hormone, there
are many nuances and pitfalls, which we now discuss.

GH and IGF-1
Growth hormone (GH) - a peptide hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland. The
maximum blood concentration is observed during puberty, after which the level has been steadily
declining. In itself it is not active, but only interacts with the liver, which is influenced by it starts to
release the so-called Insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1). This peptide, which performs all the main
functions of growth hormone in the body. Between his concentration and amount of growth
hormone in the blood, there is an inverse relationship: the higher the level of the lower production
of the other.
These hormones in the body have a number of important functions such as the stimulation of
linear growth, maintaining sufficient for functioning of the brain, the blood glucose level, the
growth of bones and soft tissue, the acceleration of protein synthesis, fat burning, and, finally, the
most important for us effect - it increased the division of all body cells. Due to this, the use of
exogenous growth hormone and is gaining popularity around the world, because the update of all
the organs, rejuvenation of tissues, including the skin, are quite tempting incentive.
Use of growth hormone or not, everyone decides for himself. In the West now, especially
among celebrities, the injection of growth hormone are an absolute norm. In the ranks of the
wealthy, who tend to longevity, it is also considered to be a common practice. But there are a
number of pitfalls and dangers that need to be taken into account before taking GH. As you may
have guessed, I give your look a list of the most relevant ones:
1) Growth hormone really rejuvenates man and, to some extent, can prolong your life, but
because it accelerates the growth of all, I repeat, all body cells, including malignant, the rationality
of its use becomes very questionable. It should be tested for tumor markers and blood If any of
them will be too high, neither of which the use of GH and speech can not go. Go to the oncologist
to look for the causes of violations.
2) Kohl your intention to start therapy with growth hormone should be aware that it is not
very cheap pleasure, and once the money is not a problem for you, get a few thousand and perform
MRI of the whole body in order to exclude the presence of cancer processes. If according to the
results you will be healthy, along with the normal values of tumor markers, consider that the first
step towards the rejuvenation you passed.
3) Next, renting analyzes for glucose, with - the peptide and the glycated hemoglobin in the
blood. This is all necessary to diagnose diabetes. If it is you already have, then you will receive GH
is absolutely contraindicated, because it will always lead to an increase in glucose. In the case
where the fasting sugar is between 7.5 mmol / l and the remaining results are normal, it is necessary
to first reduce the level, and only then to think about the beginning of hormone injections. But
remember, you will still earn the likelihood of diabetes. If the glucose level to 4 mmol / l - the risks
are minimal.
4) Your grandparents or parents suffered from cancer? I recommend starting growth hormone
therapy only if under the previous paragraphs 3 problems you do not have, and in the family has not
had any cancer.
If you do decide to, or are already using growth hormone, I want to give you the following
recommendations:
1) The daily dose should not exceed 5 units. The most optimal and safe count as 1 - 2 units,
set in the evening.
2) After the administration of growth hormone have correspondingly increased IGF-1, which
organism spots insulin analogue, however if you are within 2 hours after injection ate,
hyperglycemia occurs. Your body thinks that a lot of insulin in the blood, and in fact this is not true,
so take high carbohydrate foods after injection I will strongly recommend.
3) In the case of permanent use of GH, thyroxine production inevitably falls, so monitoring is
needed thyroid tests once every 3 - 6 months with periodic drug administration to maintain its
normal operation. Namely:
- Selenium 100 mcg / day
- Iodine 150 mcg / day
- L-tyrosine 1 g / day.
Duration of the course - a month, the courses of the year - three.
Adhering to these guidelines, you can significantly reduce the problems that people face when
taking growth hormone.

Insulin
The next step we have such an important hormone for a person like insulin. It is produced by
the beta - cells of the pancreas in the so-called islets of Langerhans. In fact it is the hormone that
regulates blood sugar levels. Once something you eaten carbohydrates contained in foods, are
broken down to glucose while increasing its concentration in the blood. It is the main source of
energy of the whole organism. The pancreas, in response to this increase, begins to actively produce
and release insulin. It serves as a kind of conveyor and a conductor, bringing glucose into the cells
that need it. Part of the unused energy is stored as glycogen in the liver and muscles. Most cells are
capable of absorbing only glucose in the presence of insulin and therefore, they are called insulin-
dependent. There are insulin dependent cells into which the glucose falls without his participation.
The main representative of this group is the brain, which feeds exclusively on glucose and does not
require the presence of insulin in order to absorb it.
When our body, for one reason or another (autoimmune, genetic, pathological), begins to
actively destroy the islets of Langerhans, there is a clear shortage of insulin. Glucose in the blood is
greatly improved, as it nobody transported to a destination. This condition is called diabetes
mellitus type first.
In diabetes the second type, constituting 85% of all diseases of the genesis, insulin is secreted
in normal or increased amounts, but the cell is reduced to his sensitivity and insulin resistance
develops. This may be due to the overuse of sweets, but is not the main factor in the problem.
The effects of any of the types of the disease are not encouraging. It is necessary to measure
blood sugar levels at least once in six months. In some countries overstate reference values, not to
diagnose diabetes in every second inhabitant. But you should know that the normal performance
fasting (meals excluded for 12 hours before blood sampling) should be up to 5 mmol / l, the
maximum allowable is 6 mmol / L, and then, to aspire to, it is in the section 3, 5 - 4 mmol / l. If
your rate exceeds these limits, you need to pass additional tests for glycated hemoglobin and C -
peptide.
Glycosylated hemoglobin - is part of the total hemoglobin in the blood which binds with
glucose. Measured as a percentage. The higher the percentage, the greater the glucose. This figure is
better than the usual meter so that, unlike the latter, it exhibits not a single result for a given time,
and the average blood sugar levels during the last 3 months.
C-peptide - a protein portion of the proinsulin molecule that is formed during the synthesis
of insulin. Proinsulin is his predecessor and main form of storage. Use of enzymes in response to
glucose uptake, it is split into insulin molecule and - a peptide that enter the blood in equal amounts.
Analysis for C - peptide is preferred and precise than for insulin because of the instability of the
last. If you exceed the level of the peptide, there may be a second type of diabetes, and with a
decrease - the first one.
If you find yourself or any deviation analysis, I recommend to consult a doctor in order to
establish an accurate diagnosis. In lesions of pancreatic insulin injections offset problem, and at the
initial stage of development of insulin resistance is only sufficient adherence life special diets, with
periodic monitoring of glucose indicator, as well as the use of additional alpha - lipoic acid
supplements. It is a powerful antioxidant from the group of conventional vitamin that has many
properties, but for patients with diabetes it will be useful in the first place that improves the
absorption of glucose into cells. Accepted 200 mg three times a day. The duration and frequency of
admission is made individually, depending on the duration and extent of the disease severity.

Cortisol
Cortisol, also known as the stress hormone * * - a biologically active hormone, secreted by
the adrenal cortex under the influence of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), produced by the
pituitary gland. It refers to a class of corticosteroids, which have been applied in medicine as an
anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antiallergic agents.
In our body, most of the processes can be divided into: Anabolic (creation) and catabolic
(breakdown). And if all of these hormones in this book, to a greater extent have anabolic, the
cortisol also is their complete opposite. It is produced in response to excessive physical exertion,
fatigue, lack of sleep, or what critical and emergency situations. Upon receipt of the signal begins to
destroy the glycogen to glucose, proteins into amino acids, in the event of the need to be fully
prepared and provide the building blocks of the body to recover.
If you do not have serious pathologies that give high values of cortisol and passing analysis,
you find that he is at the upper limit of normal, or slightly exceed it, do not just sound the alarm,
and run to the pharmacy for medicines. This hormone, along with insulin, is one of the most
volatile. The slightest feelings, stress, or just lack of sleep, on the eve of the blood sampling can
distort its usual value. Also, we must remember that the highest cortisol peaks in the early morning,
just when all the tests we are renting. We often during exercise, whether aerobic or anaerobic load,
stress hormone levels can be increased and it is an excellent indicator that the rhythm in which they
live does not suit them. Do not get too carried away in sports, do 5 weight training per week, and
the same run in the mornings, to no good it will not. From a health standpoint, the same run,
detrimental effect on the knee joint, especially in people whose weight exceeds 100 kg. Total
should be in moderation. 2 - 3 workouts per week would be sufficient to maintain fitness.
If the cortisol levels are significantly higher than normal, you need to be tested for blood
ACTH and conduct ultrasound or MRI of the adrenal glands. After receiving the results to go to the
doctor to determine the exact diagnosis. I would not have this delay, since the causes significantly
overvalued levels of cortisol are serious and it is necessary as soon as possible to begin treatment.
To sum up this chapter, I want to say a little higher than normal cortisol levels does not
require outside intervention. Take a vacation at work, do not have any physical activity at all in the
last month, reduce all experiences to a minimum and at the end of it all, re-analysis of the retake. I
assure you that the result will not take long.

DHT
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) - a form of testosterone, which has a strong androgenic activity.
Just as under the influence of the enzyme aromatase conversion occurs testosterone to estradiol by
the enzyme 5 - alpha - reductase in the cells of target organs, testosterone is converted to DHT.
Specifically, this conversion takes place in the prostate, the skin and in hair follicles. As for the
latter, it is with increased formation of DHT in them, bind profuse body hair of the whole body and
head hair loss. It wrongly considered to be a manifestation of a high level of total testosterone in the
body. Let me explain why this is not true.
It is only the excessive action of 5 - alpha - reductase in the hair follicles, no more. There are
cases where the enzyme is active so that the average or even low levels of testosterone, DHT
exceeds the upper limit of normal 3 times. Also, it may be diametrically opposite situation:
testosterone produced a lot, and is converted to DHT is very small. It is caused by pure genetics,
and I hope after these words, you will no longer be considered a man's beard key factor to its high
testosterone.
In any case, the activity of 5 - alpha - reductase only increases with age. It is impossible to
have a positive impact on the level of its reception, any medication, but you can suppress it
inhibitors, which are widely used in medicine for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and
combat alopecia. If the only problem is hair loss, I strongly recommend taking these drugs. They
will definitely slow down the process, but the cost is to be androgen deficiency. As I mentioned
above, it is the most powerful androgen DHT in the body of a man, and if you are too reduce its
level, erection problems and libido are inevitable. Take baldness for granted and do not try to deal
with it, unless of course it is not caused by a number of other reasons that are not related to
hormones.
People with elevated levels of dihydrotestosterone more likely to earn a problem with the
prostate gland. But these things are not directly related. The main factors of the appearance of the
disease are genetics and the number of receptors for DHT in the prostate gland (more of them there
will be, the greater the likelihood of problems). Therefore, the high activity of the enzyme 5 - alpha
- reductase, men over 30 years, I recommend to conduct a survey of the prostate once a year, in
order to timely diagnose the onset of the disease.
I would like to once again return to the subject of beards. The trend of increased vegetation on
the face of men is very grown in recent years. Everyone dreams of a long mustache, a thick beard
and luxuriant sideburns. But not everyone has this dream come true. Therefore, there is a mad
demand for funds, ostensibly to help achieve this goal. And there is a demand - will offer. The
modern market is teeming with a variety of lotions, ointments, gels, which should enhance the
growth of hair at the site of application. But in reality this does not happen, does not grow a beard,
and why?
Yes, everything is very simple, you see, there are only 2 factors affect the growth of your
dreams on your face: the level of DHT in the blood, as well as the number of receptors and their
sensitivity on the face. If DHT is low, with a high amount of total testosterone in the blood, then the
only option for you is just waiting, because the activity of 5 - alpha - reductase increases every year,
and possibly to 30 years of age to reach the required level, which will maintain sufficient
stimulation of the hair follicles. If DHT is low, against the background of low testosterone, it is
necessary to increase the latter, so that the first rose. About methods and ways to improve, I wrote
in the first chapter of this book. And, finally, the situation when the level of dihydrotestosterone you
have a high and a little facial hair, or it is completely absent. The reason is a small amount of DHT
to the receptors in this area, or a low sensitivity. And if the problem of low sensitivity is improved
over the years, the lack of receptor is unfortunately not correct.
Expanding this topic, I hope, that will save you a lot of money that you so vehemently gave
sellers of useless medicines, as well as change your attitude to this pseudo problem. A man paints
no beard, and actions. Remember this well, we move on to the next chapter.

Progesterone
Progesterone, along with prolactin and estradiol, a female sex hormone. In men, it is produced
by the adrenal cortex and acts as a prohormone, which are synthesized from other hormones. Also
responsible for bone density, regulates blood sugar levels and improve libido.
First, you must know that progesterone exceeding the rate of not more than 2 times, usually
not indicative of any pathology and does not require adjustment of its level external preparations. In
such a situation, first of all, you need to think about your physical activity as well as increased
progesterone is very common in athletes who are in a state of overtraining, or simply people, the
degree of physical activity which depletes the reserves of the body. Along with cortisol, these two
hormones are excellent indicators that the person has put himself in a strong excessive load stress,
cope with which his body is not able to. Recommendations are almost the same as those in the
chapter on cortisol: 1 - 2 months to engage with any sport, to minimize stress, if you observe some
or diet (solely to lose weight, and not by way of treatment), it is necessary from it for this period
and refuse to eat anything that your heart desires. Well, just a little more to enjoy life.
In case, if progesterone is higher than normal in a few times, it is necessary to conduct
ultrasound or MRI of the adrenal glands, and look for the cause of violations. In addition, I want to
say that it has the ability to inhibit the conversion of testosterone to DHT. So if you find yourself
low dihydrotestosterone, against the background of a very high progesterone, search and treat the
cause of this increase, then, DHT will definitely grow.

Adrenaline and noradrenaline

In the final chapter of my book, I would like to talk about adrenaline and noradrenaline. This
is the main hormone of the adrenal medulla, the main implementers of the reaction "fight or flight".
When the body is in a state of danger that directly threatens his life, the hypothalamus signals the
adrenal glands to actively release these hormones, then starts a whole chain of events: first, your
pupils dilate, increasing blood pressure, quickens the heartbeat and breathing, consciousness, on the
contrary, narrows focusing only on the source of danger, Glusha with all noises and sounds.
Further, significant increases in blood glucose levels and enhanced its tissue consumption. This is
necessary in order to if necessary in your muscles have enough energy to perform work.
All of you have heard that the threat to the life a person capable of many things: moving
stones weighing half a ton, lift cars, bending metal and more. So, this is all thanks to this wonderful
two hormones. In addition, greatly increased the pain threshold and superficial circulation
deteriorates to injury when they die from loss of blood. At all times of the condition, and a little
after that, increases the immune system, which in the case of infection, actively fighting infections.
This is perhaps the most important events that happen to you under the influence of adrenaline and
noradrenaline, but certainly not all.
In fact, the difference between these hormones are not as pronounced: adrenaline greatly
increases the glucose in the blood and increases the heart rate and norepinephrine has a greater
impact on blood pressure and blood vessels. In medicine, their preparations are used as injections in
conditions such as anaphylactic shock, severe low blood pressure, acute allergic reactions, asthma,
as well as hypoglycemia (due to insulin overdosing).
As you yourself might notice in the normal condition of the body, these hormones should not
reach the high blood values. 48 hours prior to delivery of the analysis exclude all foods and
medications containing caffeine and alcohol. Within 24 hours, remove any physical activity.
In hypertensive epinephrine and norepinephrine concentration may be overstated, but not
more than 2 times. In this case it is necessary to conduct further Klonidinovy test to exclude the
presence of pheochromocytoma (hormonally active adrenal tumors, which allocates an excess
amount of these hormones). Clonidine inhibits the secretion of adrenaline and noradrenaline from
the adrenal medulla in healthy individuals, but has little impact on their levels in patients with
pheochromocytoma. Blood is taken twice in the morning after fasting, and 3 hours after oral
administration of 0.3 mg clonidine. If the cause of hypertension is not adrenal gland tumor and a
healthy person, for uncertain reasons, the increased data hormones, their concentration is reduced
by at least 50%. If the values of adrenaline and noradrenaline will remain relatively unchanged, it is
important to carry out further diagnosis of adrenal status. In the case when the indicators of these
hormones are inflated 3 times or more, the most likely cause is the pheochromocytoma, and it
requires specialist advice immediately.

conclusion
At the end of this book I would like to say a few words about what it means to me. Non-
standard format, a small number of pages, specialization, lack of references to studies, confirming
the relevance of my words, the absence of a scientific degree and professional education - all this,
of course, inherent in the above material. But what I regret is that in the time of my own health
problems, including consultation inept doctors and heaps of useless books, written by the candidate
of medical sciences, in which all diseases of the nerves, I came across something similar when it
most needed. "Hormone game" - is not just another reference book on endocrinology, a flight of
fancy of the author, this is the Holy Grail of the male hormone bliss. You only need to drink from it.
