Teaching Log
Session #: 2 Date of Session: December 20, 2016 # of hours: 1 hour
Type of education activity (1:1 ambulatory, program meeting, etc.) / Name of education program:
Education level of student / participants (UG, PG, etc.)*: Undergraduate (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
Positive aspects of session: This one to one engagement session between the learners can allow the
teacher to identify learning needs in a more focus, and individualized assessment. Having the focus to
only one learner the teacher can identify tiny gaps to learning, and factors that can improve the
learners experience.
Difficulties of session: Time commitment was a problem due to the physical nature of the environment in
the emergency department. Also, the learner was not sure how comfortable she was in doing such
Reflection and interpretation of session (analysis): I have always been engage to a lot of 1:1 learning, though
I enjoyed more teaching a group of students. I believe that as an educator, we should be adaptable
on whatever kind of teaching and learning process we may have face today.
Consideration of future strategies for managing similar sessions: I think the first thing I will consider to manage
future similar session is to assess the appropriateness of the environment to teaching and learning. I also
will consider patient privacy, patient preferences, and students level of knowledge, skills, and attitude
