Introduction

Sanitation is the process of keeping places free from dirt,

infection, disease by removing the waste, trash and garbage by cleaning

streets (Merriam-Webster Dictionary, 1828).

Sanitation is important because a variety of harmful or deadly

bacteria would otherwise infect people and potentially start a disease. The

increase in lifespan and the improved quality of life over the past few

centuries is partially due to improvements in sanitation procedures (Essential

of Food Safety and Sanitation, 2005).

The importance of this study is to ensure the cleanliness and the

absence of germs, the essential procedures of removing dirt, prevention of

human contact with hazards, proper disposal of wastes and proper practicing

personal hygiene. It will help to reduce the number of harmful micro-

organisms and other contaminants.

David McSwane (2005) expressed formally that part of

sanitation is to introduce the rightful application of an agent that reduces

microbes to safe level and the proper usage of approved substance use

when sanitizing. Procedures use to maintain equipment and the environment

in a sanitary condition most importantly in food processing.

Procedures and specifies; what is to be cleaned, how is to be

cleaned, how often it is to cleaned and what records are used to monitor the

procedures.

The reason why researcher decided to conduct this research is

to give wide understanding about sanitation. To be aware what is the

possible outcomes when continually practicing poor sanitation and to give

sensible information to prevent illness that can be hazardous to health.

Wastes that can cause health problems include human and animal excreta,

solid wastes, industrial wastes and agricultural wastes. And overview on

common source of contamination and development about sanitation

procedures. Providing sanitation to people requires system approach rather

than only focusing on the toilet or waste. The focus of sanitation is to remove

or destroy the microbiological organism and remove any organic material

from those areas that may support the survival growth of the organism.

Effective sanitation programs can reduce or eliminate the risk in

any of these areas. If environmental monitoring and regulatory agencies

should implements sanitation programs. The Food and Drug Administration

FDA is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the

control and supervision of food safety. This division provides information

about inspections, recalls, warning letters, and other actions taken by

regulatory agencies. The programs for safety regulation vary widely by the

type of product and potential risk. Sanitation for pest purposes should focus
on the areas listed in the microbiological section. Sanitation and cleaning

task must be completed in a manner that will not harm employees carrying

out the cleaning task. Sanitation also may be necessary to keep the

workplace clean to prevent slips and trips. Careful thought and consideration

about how often these tasks are carried out. Training and education must be

provided to avoid accidents and injuries.

Statement of the Problem

Generally, this study investigated the sanitation procedures in

College of Education in Cavite State University, Indang Cavite and the most

effective sanitation programs.

Specially, this study intended to answer the following questions:

sanitation programs they can implement.

The Students. For the students to be inform the proper sanitation

procedures.
The Parents. For the parents to be also aware what are the sanitation

procedures they can use at their home.

For the Future Researchers. This will serve as a guide for the future

research regarding the topic.

Scoope and Limitation of the Study

The coverage of this study is the sanitation procedures in College of

Education in Cavite State University, Indang Cavite and what is the most

effective sanitation programs. The researchers limited the study to forty HRM

students of academic year 2016-2017. The respondents will be 10 students

per year. The study does not cover the sanitation procedures in different

college department in Cavite State University, Indang Cavite.
