Singpores Political System

Introduction

Nowadays, there are many problems about political system. Some of people come to be a

part of government for their personal interest. In some countries, their government did not care

populations livelihood, but not for Singapore. Singapores government work hard and be decisive

make Singapore to be the least corrupt country in Asia. Singapores politics has a form of a

parliamentary representative democratic republic. Legislative power is belong to Parliament of

Singapore (Politics of Singapore, n.d.). Moreover, their economy, education and technology are

move faster than any other countries in AEC. This show that the government has a good

management for their people. All of the good things be effective from having a good government.

Therefore, Singapore has a strong political system.

Strict law

Singapore is a country that has strict laws which cause most of the people in the country

follow the rules. You will all know that why many of crimes and all the things that be illegal rates in

Singapore is very low because of heavy punishment and damages. The Singaporean government

create strict law to run and keep the country and population safety. Everyone in the country revere

of their law, so they always think before they start to do. According to Business insider Uk, it shows

that Singapore is the first 2016 ranking safest country to live in the world (Payne, 2016). For

example, if you walk through the street, you dont need to worry about all of crimes because all of

the laws and rules make people to fear of them. And also when you go to Singapore, you must

follow their rules no matter that you are not their citizens which this cause Singapore to be a safest

place. Beside from this, laws make people to have responsibility and discipline which is a good

affect to other people and environment. According to CNN I report, it shows that Singapore ranked

in top ten cleanest country in the world (Martin, 2014). To be top 10 cleanest country, their

population must have their discipline and responsibility which their laws mostly about their

environment and peoples behavior. For example, if you throw the rubbish on the floor, you will

absolutely get punish by pay $300. So, the reason why their got cleanest country because they

follow their rules. Therefore, strict law of Singapore maintain order to the country and help country

to become more powerful of illegal system.

Least corrupted country

Singapore is less corrupted compared to other nations. Their government think about their

population first so they never think of their benefits which produce a lot more trust from population

and make people in the country believe in government and follow all the rules lead to run country

faster in every side. From the corruption perception index in 2015, there are covering 168 countries

around the world rating all of countries with the score from 0 (high in corruption) to 100 (state that

is very clean). According to Channel News Asia, Singapore get 8th least corrupt country in the

world, get score of 85 which most twice of average of 43 in Asia Pacific region (Singapore 8th-

least corrupt country in the world: Study, 2016). To be the least corruption, people in the country

must have basic of morals whether their parents teach them or their strict laws which control them

to stay in the rules. So most of their population get to be a good person. And because of strong

political and illegal system make their country develop. From the radio Free Asia, the report

ranking 183 nations Corruption Perceptions Index. The index uses data from 17 surveys and look at

factors such as bribery of public officials, kickbacks in public and embezzlement of public funds.

North Korea received a score of 1 from 10 which is lowest score of almost every country mean that

their country is highly corrupt (Lipes, 2011). As everyone know that North Korea is a close country,

they rarely communicate with other countries and their government do corrupt make them to be run

behind it could be. And the effect of corruption creates people in the country no longer trust the

government anymore lead to have internal problem in the country, for example protest and use

violence to resist and force government to resign. And poor people will suffer the most from bad

government that only think about themselves, which contrast to Singapore, where less corruption

occurred. So, corruption is such a bad act that impact all citizen and country which Singapore has

only small amount of corruption that regard as a good thing. People in the country do not have to

worry about their government because they were foster to have morals since they were kids and also

their serious laws. Therefore, least corruption make belief in citizen about their government lead to

have strong government and political system.

Stable Political System

Singapore has a very stable political system. Stable political system means that the possible

of having protest, violence, the possibility of a coup dtat. It is also measured that the government

may collapse or not. If that country frequently change form of government means that they not have

stable political system. According to the Global Economy, the data shows the score of all countries

around the world between -2.5(weak) to 2.5(strong) for political stability. Liechtenstein got 1.48

points which is the highest score value. Syria got -2.76 points which is the lowest value. While

Singapore got 1.16 points become 15th place in the word which is 3rd place in Asia follow behind

Brunei and Macao (Political stability-country rankings, n.d.). It shows that Singapore has stable

political system. The Peoples Action Party (PAP) has been dominated Singapore for several

decades and describe to be Socialist Democracy. After Singapore got independence from British,

there is only one political party which is PAP and it is ruling Singapore since 2006 until now.

People in the country accept their political party and never protest against PAP so form of

government never change. It indicates that their government can control the population and has a

strong administration. From 2017 index of economic freedom, it scales all of rule of law,

government size, open markets, and regulatory efficiency. Singapore got 2nd overall from 180

countries with a score of 88.6 (2017 index of economic freedom, n.d.). This shows that Singapore

has a strict law and enforce law which make people in the country follow their rules and also

organized government make to mage country better and all of these things will lead to have good

economy. These factors show that Singapore has stable political system.
