It can be defined as a process that encourages an understanding of the need for compassion and respect for people, animals and the environment and recognises the interdependence of all living things. This year the LSPCA will spend time and effort to raise awareness about animal welfare in Malawi. Many of us are unaware that animals are sentient beings andthe LSPCA’s Humane Education team currently work with hundreds of pupils in primary schools to deliver a humane education curriculum to children. World Animal Network developed School children developing sketches for humane chicken transport Chickens being loaded for transport to markets the curriculum and the LSPCA now delivers this to 4 rural and urban pilot schools in Lilongwe and Dedza districts. The well-known, Lilongwe based artist Isaac Chadolo joined our team to use children’s art and perception in an innovative art project that aims to bring about public messaging. The Humane Chicken Transport project sees children learning to develop their feelings and emotions into sketches, which in turn will be developed into billboard sized murals to relay humane messaging to the general publicm
