some gas. We made some estimates on the data and what we would see in it. We produced
some claims about the data. The overall claim we created was that fuel type has a greater
The fact that mpg has nearly no correlation to weight refutes the claim that heavier cars
will have a lower highway mpg because if that was the case, the slope of the line would have a
somewhat prominent negative slope. Instead the slope of the line is -0.01, meaning that the
slope is nearly horizontal. The cars would also have a lower mpg the heavier they got but
instead the weight doesn't really matter the (car name) (point that is heavy and high mpg) has
higher mpg then a car of equal weight the (car name) (weight and mpg). These cars having
nearly the same weight but having massive differences in mpg shows that weight has little to no
effect on fuel efficiency, rather a better claim would be Electric cars will have a higher highway
The fact that all of the electric cars but one have weights above 2900 lbs refutes the
claim that electric car will have a lower curb weight because that shows that the gas cars have
over three cars that weigh lower than electric cars. Also the median weight of electric cars is
3307 lbs as where the median of the gas cars is 3219 lbs almost a solid 100 lbs lighter than the
median electric car weight. All of this data refutes the claim that electric cars will have a lower
curb weight because of all the electric cars only one is lighter than gas cars and the gas cars
have 3 cars that are lighter than all but one electric car, but they don't have any cars that have a
electric and hybrid vehicles. The highest mpg gas cars get 39 mpg as where the lowest mpg
hybrid cars get 39 mpg and the lowest mpg electric cars get 42 mpg. Those statistics show that
the best mpg gas cars are on par with the worst on mpg hybrids and 3 mpg lower than the
worst electric car. All of this refutes that gas vehicles will have a higher mpg because the best
mpg gas vehicle gets 39 mpg and that is barely equal to the lowest hybrid cars and not even
There are a few things that go into a car's highway mpg. Two of them are curb weight
and fuel type. Fuel type affects highway mpg much more than others do. All of this data is
pointing out that electric cars have an astoundingly high highway mpg, as where gas powered
vehicles are on the lower side. All of this is important when choosing the next car you buy.
Write a five paragraph essay addressing the claims:
2. Electric cars will have a lower curb weight (than non-electric cars).
3. Gas powered vehicles will have higher highway mpg than electric or hybrid vehicles.
