ACTIVITY AND PROCEDURE

ICE BREAKING

Objectives:

1. To create a friendly environment between the school students and facilitators.


2. To introduce facilitators to the school students.
3. To make them feel confident to handle activities prepared.

Venue:

School Hall

Procedures:

1. Introducing facilitators.
2. Dividing students according to their months of birthday, shoes size and etc.
3. Playing games between students and facilitators.

Materials needed:

ITEM QUANTITY
A4 paper 1 ream
Mahjong paper 2 pieces x 6 = 12 pieces
Marker pen 2 boxes x 6 = 12 boxes
Biscuit mary 2 packets

SIMON SAYS

Objectives:

1. Focus when listening to order.


2. Understand English language better.
3. Interpret instruction from hearing to acting.
Venue:

School hall

Procedures:

1. Students gather in the hall.


2. One facilitator will be on stage and gives instruction.
3. Students must listen to the instruction and act as what is being instructed.
4. Another facilitator will be on the floor and observe students who do not follow the
instruction. That student will be disqualified from the game.
5. The last student, after all others have been disqualified, will be declared as
winner.

Battle Ships - A Vocabulary Game

Objectives:

1. To enhance vocabulary among students.

Venue :

School hall

Procedures:

1. Students sit in their group and named their ship.


2. Students need to choose the Captain and the Shooter. The captain's duty is to
memorize his ship's name, so he can reply if somebody calls his ship's name. The
shooter's duty is to memorize the names of the ships of 'their enemies', so he can
shoot them by calling their ship's name.
3. All the captains are arranged in a circle, the ships crews must line up behind their
captains. The shooter is the last crew member in line.
4. One facilitator will decide the lexical area of vocabulary, this vocabulary will be
used to defend their ships from the attacks.
5. Every student (except the shooters) must find their own words. Every student is
given 1-2 minutes to find as many as possible words as they can and memorize
them.
6. The game start by calling a ships name and the captain must reply with o word
and followed by his crews behind him one by one.
7. When it reaches the shooter turns, he calls out the name of another ship and the
captain of the ship must reply and his crews must do the same thing. No word can
be repeated.
8. If the captain is late to reply (more than 2 seconds) or his crew cannot say the
words or a word repeated or the shooter shoots the wrong ship (his own ship or
the ship that has already been sunk) the ship is sunk, and the crew members can
join the crew of another ship.
9. In the last round there will be two big groups battling to be the winner.

Materials needed:

DREAM TOWER

Objectives:

1. To tighten the relationship among the group members.


2. To build teamwork among them.
3. To enhance their imagination.

Venue :

School hall

Procedure:

1. They will be divided into two groups which consist of 4 and 6 students.
2. Group A consist of 4 pupils while Group B consists of 6 pupils.
3. Group A will be conducted by each facilitator.
4. They will build a tower based on their imagination and creativity.
5. Group B will be conducted by the facilitator and they will be separated into 3
pairs.
6. The first pair will observe and memorise the characteristics of the tower made by
group A and pass to the second pair.
7. The second pair will receive the information and memorise it and pass to the third
pair.
8. The third pair will find the tower based on the characteristics given.
9. While group A finishing their tower, Group B will play another game which is
broken telephone.
10. They will sit in line and a facilitator will conduct.
11. The first person in each line will get a piece of paper which contain sentences
where they need to memorise them. 2 minutes will be given to them to remember
the sentences.
12. After 2 minutes. The first person will tell the person behind her/him about the
sentences that they had memorised. The second person will pass it and so on.
13. The last person needs to write it and give to facilitator.

LIFT ME UP

Objective:

1. To build the cooperation among the group members.


2. To enhance their creative skill in solving problems.

Venue

Open area

Procedure:

1. Each group will receive 5 stripes where each stripe must be hold by two students.
2. A half filled bottle will be contributed by facilitator to each group.
3. They must lift the bottle by the stripes given.
4. They must lift and bring the bottle to another checkpoint and if the bottle dropped,
they must start it all over again.
Materials needed:

ITEM QUANTITY
Mineral bottle (small) 1 bottle x 6 = 6 bottles
Rope 1 roll

TREASURE HUNT

Objective:

1. To create a friendly surrounding and tighten the bond between the students.

Venue :

School compound

Procedure:

1. 6 groups with 10 members each are participants of this game.


2. Every group will be given a clue in an envelope.
3. They will get different colours of envelopes.
4. Inside the envelopes, they will be given a clue about the place they should go.
5. For the next clues, the facilitator in every checkpoint will give them after the
finished the tasks.
6. They must complete the tasks given in every checkpoint.
7. If they failed to complete the task, the penalty will be given.

CHECKPOINT 1
Game : Charade

2 representatives from each group will be called to act out the word/idioms given
to them.
The rest of the members of the groups have to guess the word. 50 marks is given
to a correct answer.

Penalty : They will have to spell 5 correct English word given by facilitator.

CHECKPOINT 2

Game : Write it out

Every group will received a mahjong paper, a marker and 5 stripes of rope.
Each group will have to write I LOVE ENGLISH on a mahjong paper.
They need to use the stripes given instead of using hand to hold the marker.

Penalty : They must wait at the checkpoint for 5 minutes.

CHECKPOINT 3

Game : Take Me Out

Every group will received a plate contains with flour and candy.
They need to take all the candy out.

Penalty : They have to build 3 words from some letters given.

CHECKPOINT 4

Game : Filled Me Up

Every person in each group stands in a straight line.


First person will get a container filled with water.
He/ she needs to pass the water to person behind them and it continuous until
the last person.
They must describe a things given by the facilitator while passing the water.
The last person needs to pour the water left in a big container located a distance
behind him/her.
Every group needs to filled up the big container until some level within the time
given.

Penalty : They will be given a song called Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. They must sing the
song in the most elegant way.

CHECKPOINT 5

Game : Rubber band Challenge

Every person in each group stands in a straight line.


Every participant will get a straw and they need to hold it with their mouth.
The first person in every group will get the rubber band hang on the straw.
He/she needs to pass it to the back and it continuous until the last person.
The last person needs to put the rubber band located behind him/her.
They need to pass the rubber band as many as they can within the time given.

Penalty : They must walk to the next checkpoint while doing animal sounds.

CHECKPOINT 6

Game : Locate Me

Each group needs to find this checkpoint as it is moveable.


Once they find, the facilitator will give them a book with the words they need to
find in the book.
They must write the page, paragraph and line of the words given.

Penalty : They must say a tongue twister as fast as they could.

Materials needed :

TALENTIME

Objectives :

1. To build confidence.
2. To encourage creative thinking among the students.
3. To nurture cooperation among the students.

Venue :

School hall

Procedures :

1. Students are divided into 6 groups. Each group consist of 10 students.


2. Each group will need to continue the sentence that has been chosen by group
leader.
3. Each group are free to do anything they want such as drama, dancing or singing.
4. They are given time to practise their performance which is on the second night.

Materials needed :

PA system
AEROBICS PROPOSAL

Objectives :

1. To improve all elements of fitness (flexibility, muscular strength and cardio-


vascular fitness).
2. To teach the students the importance of health.
3. To encourage the students to exercise consistently.
4. To build the ability to understand instructions in English language.

Venue :

Open area with a stage for the aerobics instructors.

Procedures :

1. The students will be gathered in an open area under the supervision of the
facilitators.
2. The instructor will brief the students on common instructions in aerobics.
3. The instructor will start the activity by showing the students the standard warm up
activities.
4. The aerobics start.
