COMMENTS . At time of inspection vessel was being towed by tugboat KABO 1, as

starboard main engine was taken out of service due to damaged gearbox while port main
engine also has a damaged crown gear and is only being used for manoeuvring while
berthing and unberthing.
Both main engines need urgent repairs as the present situation onboard has the potential
to cause a major emergency .
The vessels main steering system is not operation and has been so for over fifteen
months and vessel is being steered by the emergency steering system which is prone to
breaking down resulting in vessel being disabled while underway.
Therefore it is extremely important that the main steering system be made operational
immediately.
Further the natural ventilation system of engine rooms and together with the radiator
cooling system is contributing to overheating of main engines and engine rooms and it is
strongly recommended that an enforced ventilation system be installed for engine rooms
and a keel cool cooling system for main engines.
