Activity 1
Instructions:
1 Distribute Worksheet 1 to your students and/or put an enlarged copy on the board for
all to see. (You can use either script or capital letters.)
2 Name each of the characters in turn, asking the children to repeat after you.
3 Sing the song to the children. Note that the tune is that of Polly Put the Kettle On (see,
for example, http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/p018.html to hear the tune).
As you name each character, put your hand over the picture.
4 Sing the song again, encouraging the children to join in with you.
5 If you wish, you can expand on the activity by asking the children to stand in a circle
to sing the song. This time, instead of placing their hand on the picture, they can
do an action for each, for example:
Witch use your hands to make a triangle over your head to represent the witch`s hat.
Zombie put your hands out in front and lift rst one leg then the other.

Pre-Primary
Alternatively, you can ask each child to cut out one of the characters. As their character
is named, they should raise the picture, then lower it when the next character
is named.
6 If you wish, give each child a copy of Worksheet 2, so that they can take the lyrics
home and sing the rhyme with their parents.
Give each child a second copy of Worksheet 1, ask them to colour in the pictures and
then cut out the cards to make a game of pelmanism. If you want them to prepare the
pelmanism, it is better to print the worksheets onto card.
