Duties: Covering classes at short notice, helping with extra-curricular activities, part of
a subject inspection (Materials Technology Wood), day trips out of the school, CanSat
Competition in association with GMIT, extra practice for MTW students.
Date: January 2016 - February 2016
Employer: St. Killians College, New Inn, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.
Duties: Teaching Placement two. During this second teaching placement I taught 1st
(Technical Graphics), 4th (DCG) and Transition Year students (Construction Studies) under a
number of different topics. 1st years completed one of my design briefs (Create a pencil holder
using a traditional finger joint and different materials-students designing and researching), 4th
years completed the topic of developments while they TYs also completed a project/brief
that I had created (Simple artefact that they had to make and create a use for it). Also
supervised and observed Junior and Leaving Certificate Students while completing their
projects and revision for their mock exams (Technical Graphics and Construction Studies)

Duties: Teaching placement one. During this six week period I taught 1st (Technical
Graphics - Pictorials), 2nd (Materials Technology (Wood) (Design brief which I created
students had to create a phone holder using different material) and Transition Year students
(Construction Studies experiments with timber and concrete).

Duties: Worked as part of a team and an individual basis to deliver the core skills of
hurling to young children. I helping to train the Cappataggle minor (U18) team to help them

develop important skills and to help them enjoy their time playing sport.
Achievements
Part of GMIT Letterfrack hurling squads which reached the All-Ireland Semi-Final 2014 and
the All-Ireland Final in 2016 in the Fergal Maher Cup Competition.
Captained my local Hurling Club Cappataggle to a U14 county final in 2008 and also was a
joint captain of our U21 squad in 2015.
As a part of numerous under age hurling teams we achieved many successes: U16 (2010),
Minor (2011) and U21 squads (2011).
Also was a part of the Junior hurling All-Ireland winning schools team with St.Brigids
College in 2011.
Received the Award for Most Dedicated Junior Student 2010 in my secondary school.
Selected by the students in my class to be on the Senior Council in school.
Interest and Hobbies
One of my interests and hobbies is hurling and playing in teams for my local club. Also I
am keen to be involved in teams whether it is helping out or training teams to help the
whole team to develop (selector/trainer for local club).
Also I enjoy farming and working with animals and being outside in the fresh air and active.

Personal Skills and Qualities
I work well with people, have good teamwork skills and have good organisational skills. I also
work hard and strive to reach my goals. I am honest, very trustworthy and good at taking
orders or directions while also able to take lead in tasks that I am involved in. I am flexible
and adaptable and am willing to help out whenever I can.
