Abstract
Aims (s) : to analyze the factors that influence the unmet need
Method : this research is an explanatory mixed method research. It done
on 160 eligible women in Kediri. Quantitative data were analyzed by univariable,
bivarible by using statistical Chi-Square, and multivariable logistic regression with
significance level (p<0.05). Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively
Result : the proportion of unmet need as much as 18.8%. Factors
influencing unmet need are, education, family income, status of contraceptive
use, women's knowledge of contraception, husband's consent, discussion
partner regarding family planning, and quality of family planning services
(p<0,05). Dominant factor that influencing unmet need based on multivariable
analysis was husband's consent to use contraception (PR = 52.994; 95% CI =
3.795 to 740.081).The reason of women with unmet need is perceiving low risk of
pregnancy,fear of side effects, husbands prohibition, religion disapproval, and
myths and rumors about contraceptives
Conclusion : By knowing the factors that influence unmet need and the
dominant factor which affecting unmet need, the untervention can be done better
so as to have leverage against unmet needs
