Objectives: Complete the software modeling of the model rocket, finish construction of the

rocket, and be ready to fly by the end of the 2 week period.

Materials and Methods

List of materials used:

RockSim (rocket modeling software)

Dialogue for the Last Two Weeks

Figure 1: The RockSim simulation theoretically shows that if we flew the rocket, it would be

able to fly very far.

As shown in Figures 1, we were finally able to get our RockSim Simulation to work. The

simulation shows us that our rocket would theoretically fly 1,632 feet in the air. We are

expecting at least a ten to thirty feet difference in our actual results as the simulation does not

take in actual human error. As shown in Figure 2, we had finished making the design for the nose

cone. Figure 2 also shows our calculations for the diameter and certain parts of the design. We

are planning to 3D print the nosecone.

In regards to the testing, we have discovered that we do not need to notify authorities that

we are flying the rocket if the rocket is less than 3.3 pounds,

Figure 2: The mathematical calculations for the 3D printed nose cone that will be placed on the

top of the rocket.

Plans for the Next Two Weeks

We need to put in the parachute and the actual egg holder for the rocket. We plan to have

the nose cone 3D printed and ready by the end of the two week period. We should be testing in

the next two week period and have our results ready by April.
