following questions.
o Can you create costumes or props to help you to tell a story?
o Can you help me create a setting using these materials?
o Can you create a character and then tell me a story using that character?

Lesson Procedure and Activities:

Introduction:
I will ask each student individually what center they would like to play in and
then dismiss them to that specific center.

Activities:
Inside table set up: I will place different materials such as paper, fabric, ribbon,
scissors, glue, etc. on a table for the students to create costumes and props with.
The students will be free to use any other materials in the classroom to create their
costumes and props. On another table I will play a felt board along with felt
characters on the table for the students to create stories with. I will also provide
the students with felt, markers, and scissors to create their own felt characters if
they please.
Outside set up: I will set up blocks and other materials on the grass for the
students to create settings with in order to tell stories. I will put out popsicle
sticks, construction paper, markers, glue, and tape for students to create their own
stick man for them to create stories with. Lastly, I will put out costumes for the
students to use. I will also allow them to use any costumes and props that they
made during indoor investigations outside.
Writing center: The students can choose to go to the writing center where they
have access to paper, pencils, pens, markers, stamps, and dicuts. There will also
have access to performing arts vocabulary words for the children to work with.
Math Center: The students can choose to go to the math center where they can
play with different manipulatives such as blocks, bamboo, tiles, Legos, foam
shapes, etc.
Art Center: The students can choose to go to the art center where they may use
boxes, glue, paint, oil pastels, scissors, feather, straws, etc.
Science Center: The students can choose to go to the science center to work with
the lights and shadows table and a scale that the can use different manipulatives
with.
Dramatic Play: The students can choose to go to the dramatic play center where
they can play in a small kitchen that has a stove, refrigerator, oven, pots, pans,
cups, a table, chairs, food, etc.
Music Center: The students can choose to go to the music center where they can
play with different instruments such as drums, shakers, bells, etc. They can also
dance along with the music and there are materials that they can dance with.
Reading and Listening Center: The students can choose to go to the reading and
listening center where they can sit on the pillows and read stories by themselves
or with their peers. In the class library, I will have books that have strong
characters, setting, or plot or books that pertain to performing arts that the
students can choose to look at.
Blocks Center: The students can choose to go to the block center where they can
play with different blocks that vary in size and shapes. There are also ramps, cars,
people, and animals that they students may choose to play with along with the
blocks.

Closure:
When center time is over, I will have a student turn on the clean up music and
the children will begin to clean up.
As the students clean up, I will put out the towels for our reflection time.
Once the students are finished cleaning up, the students will be able to choose
what towel they would like to sit on.
Once everyone is seated, we will begin our reflection time and let the students
share everything that they have created during indoor investigations. They will
only be able to share the things that they have placed at the front of the
classroom to share.

Differentiation:
In order to help with behavior needs, I will encourage students to work with one
another and engage in the centers. If the students have any issues in the centers, I
may ask them to go sit down at a table for a couple of minutes or I may ask them
to go play at another center for a while. During our reflection time, there is one
student who needs a pipe cleaner to help her to focus and I will be sure to give it
to her at the beginning of this whole group time.
I will repeat or reword any questions that I feel the students do not understand.
All of the lessons meet the cultural needs of all the students in the class and they
are all developmentally appropriate.

Formative Assessment/Evaluation:
I will take anecdotal notes on each child. I will record where the students are
playing on a chart that is used daily in the classroom. I will take notes about the
things that the students are creating and what they are engaging in.
