M you are likely aware, some members of our community are hesttant to seek health and human services due
to rears arising from the current national discourse and news reports about immigration
The Houston Health Department (HHD) IS asl<ing lhal your organization continue to refer your dients lo HHO for
prevenlive health services, the Women, Infants and Children (WlC) program and our other various inttiatives.
HHO, in tum, W>ll continue io refer tts clients lo your agency and ouT other communtty partners, as appropriate.

HHO operates four health centers and 11 Mulli-Servlce Centers throughout our city. HHD serves 2. 1 million
resldenls annually through an array of services, including: environmental regulation and food protection,
programs for older adults, dental and vision programs for al-risk youth, family planning, WIC program, as well
as clinical services for certain communicable diseases, tuberculosis, and emerging communicable diseases.

HHO Is dedicated lo providing public health services to all residents and visaors to the Clly, regardless of race,
ethnlclly, language, or country of origin. To promote health eq u ~y. HHD-like all public health agencies-mus!
provide services in a culturally- and lingu1slicaJlycompetenl manner. To do this well, we mu&t cultlvale
relationships with the community and faith-based organJzallons that serve and advocale for Houslon's diverse
poputatlons.

Census data &hows that the Houslon Region is America's most diverse and most rapidly-growing major cily.
Immigration and refugee resettlement trends have contnbuted greatly to this growth and divllfSity. Our city's
