Abstract
In This investigation was identified the elastic properties and coefficient of attenuation of AA6063-T6
aluminium alloy, using ultrasonic techniques. The samples were obtained from an alloy of aluminium
AA6063 in homogenized condition, this extracted 6 test samples which undergoing heat treatment of
aging at 175 C for periods of 2, 8 and 12 hours. This was achieved to obtain different aging conditions
which result in a variation of mechanical properties, mainly the hardness. Based on the results of
hardness is confirm a hardening by precipitation of alloy AA6063. Probes of normal beam incidence of
2.25 and 5 MHz, both of longitudinal and transversal waves were used for the calculation of the speed.
Probes of normal beam incidence of 2.25; 5; 10 and 15 MHZ were used for the calculation of the
attenuation. Through attenuation coefficients calculations proved that the precipitates decrease the energy
of the sound; for 10 and 15 MHz frequencies, the differences between the attenuation coefficients become
mayor, being the material that most it attenuates the wave that shows aging 8 hours due to the higher
density of precipitates. The results reflected that there is no significant variation in the speed of sound
with heat treatment, because the elastic properties of the material do not change with the heat treatment of
ageing.
1. INTRODUCCIN
Debido a
diferentes muestras tratadas trmicamente.
2. PROCEDIMIENTO EXPERIMENTAL
Ec. 1
Donde:
A = amplitud de la seal
r = distancia asociada a esa amplitud
Ec. 2
Donde:
V = velocidad del sonido
