Onega oe Yolanda Song Reed - {8776 Archibald Avenue, Rancho Cucamong (009) 9878942 FAX (009) 980-3628 March 23, 2017 Dear Parents, (On March 10th, 2017, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a Los Amigos randmother who located a firearm in jent took possession of the handgun Elementary School student's residence after they received a call from a gre her 6-year-old grandson's backpack. Law enforcement discovered the stud from another 6-year-old student at Los Amigos Elementary School earlier in the day. During the preliminary investigation, the student could not provide deputies with the other child’s name or any the firearm and when identifying information to locate the other child involved. Deputies took possession of school resumed this week from spring break, continued their investigation to determine the identity of the other child involved. In order not to compromise the investigation, the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department directed the District to fhold correspondence to our school district community until the completion of the investigation. ‘The student who initially brought the firearm to school has now been identified, and his parent was arrested for child endangerment and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Both students involved in the incident are no longer attending Los Amigos Elementary School ‘Thankfully, no one was injured. However, the incident can be used as an important reminder that we must make certain that children do not have access to weapons or other dangerous items that can cause harm to themselves or others. Talso want to take this opportunity to thank the parents who have provided us with the necessary information to partner with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department and fully investigate this matter.
