NEED FOR THE SYSTEM

An Operating System(OS) is
an interface between hardware and user which is responsible for
the management and coordination of activities and the sharing of
the resources of the computer that acts as host for computing
applications run on the machine. As a host, one of the purpose
of an operating system is to handle the details of the operation of
the hardware. This relives application programs from having to
manage these details and make it easier to write applications.
There are many operating systems in the world. All of these
operating systems having their advantages and disadvantages.
But in order to reap the benefits of the operating system we have
to first install it on another machine. If we want to use another
operating systems and install the new one . But we can also use
more than one operating system in a machine. But this will
consume precious space.

But what if we had an OS that could be accessed by the

internet . We could need a machine and an internet connection. In
this way we can use the benefits of both the operating system at
the same time. Here we have taken a brave step in designing an
operating system that could be accessed by the internet and used
in the same way that we use the operating system on our
machine. This new concept lead to stepping stone of new era in
the filed of computing . By implementing the concept we can use
any operating system that we want just by using a machine and
an internet connection.

In the proposed system we have created an Operating

system that we can access by means of the internet and use it
according to our need. In this way we can use benefits of another
operating system. Here we have tried to take small steps that will
change entire view of OS for a machine in the near future. We
have created an operating system with limited applications. Here
we have an operating system that will be in a central server. By
using an internet connection and a pc he can access that
operating system on his machine. He will have in the same way
he is using the operating system on his machine. He will have
operational access to manipulating the

files and folders, he will be able to use the command prompt as in

XP, and he can have access to office as in Linux in our designed
operating system. Our proposed system will be an operating
system that will be same way as that of other OS but the major
difference that will be set it aside from another operating system
is that unlike another operating system it will not have to be
installed on a machine for use, we could access it from the
internet and us its features for performing operations.

It includes a Desktop environment with some applications and

system utilities. Online OS lets you upload your files and work
with them no matter where you are. It contains applications like
text editor, PDF reader, media player, calculator etc and may
more developed by the community. It looks like a regular PC
operating system, but the trick is that it can be accessed from
anywhere. If you travel all the time, or you dont own a pc or
laptop or move often, then you can access Online Os from an
Internet Caf. All you need is a web browser, Internet access and
online OS is there for you, always, all the time.

Online os is all about entering the work and

entertainment in single place. Online os is about removing
compatibility issues between applications and operating systems
and taking your life everywhere. And is used privatively and
professionally throughout the world rather it is used for public
environments, schools, small and large companies alike or a way
to share data with your family. Online os has a use in digital life
era.

Online os is an open source web desktop following the

cloud computing concept. With increasing use of the high-speed
internet technologies during the past few years, the concept of
cloud computing has become more popular. In cloud
computing ,users work with web-based, rather than local, storage
and software.

These applications are accessible via a browser and look

and act like desktop programs. With this approach, users can
work with their applications from multiple computers. In
addition, organizations can more easily control corporate data

and reduce malware infections. Also cloud computing make

collaboration easier and can reduce platform-incompatibility
problems.

Now , A growing number of organizations are adding to the cloud

concept by releasing commercial and open source web based
operating system. While the idea isnt new, the proliferation of
users and applications distributed over the web, including those
at scattered corporate sites, has made it more interesting,
relevant, and , vendors hope, commercially viable, the online os
goes beyond basic desktop functionality. It also includes many of
traditionaloss capability, including a file system, file
management, and productivity and communications applications.
As is the case with web based applications, the online Os
functions across platforms from any device with internet access.
In addition distributed groups can collaborate via the technology.

This is mainly controlled by Admin where in he can

manage the users who are using the operating system.

2. Registration

Allows user to register on the site and to make use of the services of
