For the target audience, the booklet would be aimed towards students
in college, or in the last few years of secondary school. With this, the
demographics would include a unisex range, with an age group of
around 14 to 19, as well as having no occupation, since it appeals to
students. With this said, the socio economic groups of the target
audience would be class E, which is unemployed, and class D-, if the
student has a part time job. The geo demographic of the leaflet would
be anywhere in the UK. To be more specific, it would be found in
existing educational facilities in the UK, especially in cities, where
numerous variations of facilities may reside. As well as this, the
psychographics of the target audience would be succeeders, as they
are known to be the ones who want to do well in a job environment,
which this leaflet offers with a higher education.
The leaflet uses 5 dominant colours in their layout: red, blue, green,
yellow, and pink. The red connotes passion and love, which could
portray the feelings that the target audience may fell for their career,
and that they may choose higher education to excel their job
performance once they get one. The blue connotes tranquillity, which
could portray the idea that a higher education will make your life
calmer, as you wont need to worry about jobs, since you would be
easy to find one with the qualifications you could achieve. It could also
connote the idea that the environment in higher education is tranquil,
which would appeal to the target audience, as some may suffer with
anxiety. The green connotes nature and success, as well as hope, which

could connote the future events that could take place in higher
education (graduation, good grades, etc.). Yellow connotes happiness
and youth, which could be used to persuade the audience that they will
be happier if they choose higher education. The colour pink connotes
excitement, and brightness. This could be used to portray the fun that
the audience may have while in higher education, and could have been
used as a persuasion.
Some images that are used contribute to the aesthetic of the leaflet.
There are five in total, but they are used throughout the leaflet, giving
the illusion of content. Two images show school students in a work
environment, which fit the aesthetic of the leaflet as they are showing
people participating in higher education. Each photo includes a group
of students working, and partaking in class. However they all are
smiling, meaning happiness. This could connote that higher education
is an enjoyable programme, which would persuade the target audience.
Two other images show a group of student enjoying each others
company and studying together, from what it looks like, in their free
time. I get this impression because both sets of students are in their
casual clothing, rather than a uniform. As well as this, they are in a
living/bed room environment, with sofas and beds. These images could
connote that there is an opportunity to make new friends within higher
education, and that the work needed can be done easily with friends.
The last image shows a shot of a graduation ceremony, with the classic
hat throwing tradition. This could connote the success of the
programme, and that there is a lot to gain from the experience. As
already mentioned, the images are used numerously throughout the
booklet, however that are all given a different colour gradient.
Including yellow, which ends up being hard to see and not effective.
This could connote that the company that provided the booklets have
no clue when it comes to graphic design, which is contradictory since
the booklet is about education.
The booklet contains many different simple graphics, however, they all
have a theme: roundness. By this I mean that nearly every graphic
used in this leaflet are created with mostly circles. The use of a circle,
or any rounded shape, connotes friendliness since round shapes consist
of smooth curves rather than pointy corners and bulky straight lines.
This addition could help persuade the target audience that higher
education is a positive experience.

The second example of factual print product I have chosen is a flyer for
sexual health. The flyer was found in the library of an educational
facility (College), and was produced by the Virgin Care branch. The
leaflet is associated with the NHS.

demographic for this leaflet would be for within the area of north east
Lincolnshire, as the leaflet clearly states that this is the only area with
this type of flyer for young people. To be more specific, the place where
this would most likely be seen is inside educational facilities, where
older students may be interested in the activity, that the leaflet states.
The psychographics of the target audience may comply with the needs
of an explorer, who like new challenges, which refers to the new
amount of freedom that is given to the age of consent, and the
reformer, who like independent judgement, and like to benefit from
new experiences. These two would be interested in this leaflet, as it
provides a guide as to how to take care of yourself during these
activities.
There are no images in the flyer, however, there are a lot of different
graphics shown all over the flyer. The use of a heart could connote the
feelings of a romantic love, which are usually associated in sex. There
are also graphics of different coloured condoms, which symbolise the
health of a male when regarding this topic. There are also different pills
and pill bottles Shown on the leaflet, which could relate to the females
health relating to this topic. I make this link because I believe that the
different pills could symbolise the different types of birth control that
are available in pill form. There is also the use of a parachute, which
could connote that this flyer id for the safety of others, as is a
parachute for a sky diver.

through. Then again, this means that any desired information is not
viewable, and must be seen through the website provided. Though this
makes the font easy to read, it also alienates the text. The graphics
that are coupled with the text are relevant to the text, meaning that it
makes the text easy to understand.

The third example of factual print is a leaflet about motorbike renting
and lessons. This leaflet was found in the library an educational facility.
This leaflet was produced by the Humber rural community council.
The audience for this leaflet would be for young people aged 17-20
years. I get this figure because of where it is distributed, As well as this,
I am able to gather the occupation of the target audience, with it being
among students or young people with an apprenticeship, meaning the
socio economic group would vary from E to D-. The geo demographic of
this leaflet is for within the surrounding areas of Grimsby, and Grimsby
itself. This is because the leaflet is to promote a local company rather
than a national one. The leaflet would not appeal to those in the
outside areas. The psychographics of the target audience would appeal
to explorers, as they appeal to use business that is lesser known than
mainstream brands.
The colour scheme of this leaflet is more apparent that the other two
that I have covered. It consists of a simple gradient progression of
different shades of blue, on a white background. The use of blue
connotes tranquillity, which could refer to the ease of mind that could
be experienced when using the service advertised. It also
communicated stability and confidence, which could be used to
describe the company as a whole. Which could interest possible
customers.

The information given in the leaflet is clean and without fault. It is clear
that the leaflet pride themselves with information that is straight to the
point. The language used is not directed towards young people, as it is
formal, however its criteria it lists fit the demographic. The information
is divided into bullet points, which makes it easier to read. Which is
useful for a young target audience, and making it easy to find the
specific information you want. On top of this, the images are relevant
to the text, making it easier to understand.
