SCENE 9
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

Cells float in a line across the screen

Bad cell floats across to centre of screen then stops.

V.O.
"And if a Cell does not make the

grade..."

Cell shudders and falls out of shot.

V.O.
"That Cell will die, either by
being killed or terminating
itself."
Pause
"This is a Skin Cell"
EASE IN - CAMERA 1 - ZOOM INTO HEALTHY CELL

V.O.
"A Skin Cell should look a lot like
this one right here."
Arrow appears and flashes.

V.O.
"Inside the centre of the Cell is a
Nucleus. And inside that Nucleus
you'll find..."
Chromosomes start fading into view.
EASE IN - CAMERA 1 - ZOOM INTO CHROMOSOMES

V.O.
"Twenty-three pairs of
Chromosomes."
EASE IN - CAMERA 1 - FOCUS ON SINGLE CHROMOSOME
All other Chromosomes fade away.

V.O.
"Each Chromosome is made up of two
Sister Chromatids."
Outline left Chromatid.
Outline disappears.
Outline right Chromatid.
Outline disappears.

SCENE 10
ESTABLISHING SHOT - CAMERA 1 - PAN RIGHT 1

DNA glides across screen (like an underwater snake).

V.O.
"Chromosomes are made out of your
DNA."
ZOOM OUT - CAMERA 1 - PAN RIGHT 2

MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"And Histone Proteins wrapped in
the DNA."

ZOOM OUT - CAMERA 1 - PAN RIGHT 3

V.O.
"This combination of DNA wrapped
around Histone Proteins gets all
compacted together, this is what
creates your Chromosomes."
DNA and Histone Proteins get pulled towards the chromosome.
EASE IN - CAMERA 1 - ZOOM INTO CHROMOSOME

SCENE 11
ZOOM OUT - CAMERA 1 - ROTATE CLOCKWISE

SCENE 12
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"To the right is a Cell."

Cell appears on screen.

V.O.
6

"And below is a chart showing what

stage the Cell is at."

SCENE 13
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

Arrow points to G1 on chart

G1 section of chart softly glows brighter and darker.
repetitively.

V.O.
"During G1 (Gap 1 Phase) all
cytoplasmic components in the Cell
are duplicated ."

Individual cytoplasmic components duplicate.

SCENE 14
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"The Cell is then checked before
moving to the..."
Slot fits into chart.
Cell crosses barrier.
Large green tick stamps on cell.

EASE IN - CAMERA 1 - ZOOM INTO STAMPED CELLS NUCLEUS

Chart rotates pointing the "S Phase" to the left (arrow

stays stationary)
S section of chart softly glows brighter and darker.
repetitively.

V.O.
"S Phase, or the Synthesis Phase.
This is where the DNA replicates."

DNA duplicates.

SCENE 15
7

MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"Next is the G2 Phase, or the (Gap
2 Phase."
Chart rotates pointing G2 Phase to the left.
G2 section of chart softly glows brighter and darker.
repetitively.

V.O.
"This is when all the Enzymes
needed for the Cell to divide are
created."
Cell has small dots appear at random on it.
SCENE 16
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"The Cell is then Checked for a
second time."
Slot fits into chart.
Cell crosses barrier.
Large green tick stamps on cell.

SCENE 17
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"Now that the Cell is ready for the
final phase called Mitosis, or the
(M Phase)."
Chart rotates pointing M Phase to the left.
M segment of chart softly glows brighter and darker.
repetitively.

V.O.
"During this point there are four
different stages."
EASE IN - CAMERA 1 - ZOOM INTO CELLS NUCLEUS
8

SCENE 18
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"The first is the Prophase."
Prophase sign appears and stays in place.

V.O.
"This is where the DNA and Histone
Proteins combine and create
Chromosomes."
Strings of DNA form Chromosome shapes.

SCENE 19
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC
Centriole's start to move to opposite poles.

V.O.
"Also During this stage the
centrioles move to opposite poles
and Tubules extend from them."
Tubules start emerging from Centrioles.
Nuclear Membrane starts fades away

V.O.
"The Nuclear Membrane breaks down -
meaning the Tubules can attach onto
the Chromosomes to line them up."
Chromosomes spread out
Tubules attach onto chromosomes.

SCENE 20
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"The second phase is called the
Metaphase. This is when the
Chromosomes are being lined up."
9

Sign for Metaphase appears below Prophase and stays in

place.
Chromosomes shimmy into line.
SCENE 21
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"The Cell then goes through it's
final check."
Slot fits into Chart.
Cell crosses barrier.
Large green tick stamps on cell.

SCENE 22
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"The Anaphase is when the
Chromosomes are separated."
Sign for Anaphase appears below Metaphase and stays in
place.
Cell starts stretching as Centriole's separate.
ZOOM OUT - CAMERA 1 - DOLLY OUT

SCENE 23
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC

V.O.
"The final stage is called the
Telophase."
Sign for Telophase appears below Anaphase and stays in
place.
Centrioles carry on separating.
Nuclear envelopes surround the Chromosomes (but not the
centriole's which have now released the chromosomes and are
withdrawing the tubules).
10

V.O.
"A new Nuclear Envelope will appear
around the separated groups of
Chromosomes. Once contained in the
envelope the chromosomes will
uncoil back to long strings of
DNA."

SCENE 24
MEDIUM SHOT - CAMERA 1 - STATIC
The Cell separates.

V.O.
"Once the Cell has separated you
now have two Daughter Cells which
are identical."
Pause...
" A full Cell Cycle can take around
ten to twenty hours depending on
it's job. Cell's also vary on how
many times they can replicate."
