Metilen klorida (CH2Cl2) adalah salah satu senyawa klorometana yang
banyak digunakan dalam proses industri, seperti solven pada industri cat maupun penghilang vernish, bahan dalam pembuatan bahan adhesives, bahan pembuatan aerosol dan banyak digunakan pada proses lainnya. Pabrik ini direncanakan beroperasi selama 330 hari/tahun dengan kapasitas produksi metilen klorida 40.000 ton/tahun. Bahan baku utama yang dibutuhkan adalah metil klorid 99,5% sebanyak 27.097,57 ton/tahun dan klorin 99,5% sebanyak 40.918,05 ton/tahun. Produk samping yang dihasilkan adalah HCl 30% sebanyak 60.035,74 ton/tahun dan kloroform 95,80% sebanyak 1.779,16 ton/tahun. Proses pembuatan metilen klorida dari metil klorida dan klorin dilakukan dengan menggunakan proses termal klorinasi. Reaksi terjadi pada fase gas di dalam reaktor alir pipa multitube pada suhu 265 oC dan tekanan 3 atm. Sebagai penunjang, unit utilitas menyuplai kebutuhan air make-up sebesar 15.552,00 kg/jam yang diperoleh dari Sungai Cidanau, kebutuhan listrik sebesar 193,27 kWh, udara instrumen sebanyak 150 m3/jam dan steam sebanyak 4.323,61 kg/jam. Pabrik ini akan didirikan pada kawasan industri terpadu di Cilegon, Banten, Jawa Barat dengan pertimbangan yaitu, dekat dengan bahan baku klorin dan sumber air yaitu Sungai Cidanau, serta tersedianya sarana transportasi darat dan laut sehingga memudahkan pemasaran produk. Pabrik metilen klorida memiliki karyawan sejumlah 233 orang dengan luas area pabrik sebesar 75.000 m2. Perhitungan evaluasi ekonomi memberikan hasil sebagai berikut: fixed capital sebesar $ 12.008.395,28 + Rp 342.229.894.614,96 dan working capital sebesar $ 17.827.378,29 + Rp 14.408.076.175,98. Production cost sebesar $ 40.480.022,73 + Rp 77.945.330.132,34. Pada kapasitas 100% produksi, diperoleh ROI before tax 44,18%, ROI after tax 22,09%. POT before tax 1,85 tahun , POT after tax 3,12 tahun dengan BEP 42,04%, SDP 22,20%, dan DCFRR 24,44 %. Berdasarkan pertimbangan hasil evaluasi tersebut, maka pabrik metilen klorida dengan kapasitas 40.000 ton/tahun ini layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.

ABSTRACT Methylene chloride (CH2Cl2) is one of the chloromethane compounds are widely used in industrial processes, such as solvent in the paint industry and vernish remover, an ingredient in the manufacture of adhesives, aerosol-making material and widely used in other processes. This plant is planned to operate for 330 days a year with methylene chloride production capacity of 40.000 tons/year. The main raw materials required are methyl chloride 99.5% as much as 27097.57 tons / year and 99.5% chlorine as 40.918,05 tons/year. Side products is HCl 30% solution whiches produced 60.035,74 tons/year and chloroform as much as 1.779,16 tons/year. The process of manufacture of methylene chloride from methyl chloride and chlorine is done by using thermal chlorination process. The reaction occurs in the gas phase in the multitube pipe plug flow reactor at a temperature of 265 oC and pressure of 3 atm. As a support, the utility plant unit supplies the needs of the make-up water of 15.552,00 kg/hour that is obtained from the Cidanau, 193,27 kWh of electricity, compressed air up to 150 m3/hour and 4.323,61 kg/hour steam. This plant will be established in integrated industrial area in Cilegon, Banten, West Java, with the considerations are close to the raw material of chlorine and the water source Cidanau River, as well as the availability of land and sea transportation to facilitate the marketing and delivering of products. The plant methylene chloride has a number of employees 233 people and total plant area of 75.000 m2. Calculation of economic evaluation gives the following results: fixed capital required is $ 12.008.395,28 + Rp 342.229.894.614,96 and working capital is $ 17.827.378,29 + Rp 4.408.076.175,98. Production costs amounted to $ 40.480.022,73 + Rp 77.945.330.132,34. At full production rate, obtained ROI before tax is 44,18%, ROI after tax is 22,09%. POT before tax 1,85 year, POT after tax is 3,12 years, with BEP at 42,04% capacity, SDP at 22,20% capacity, and 24,44% of DCFRR. Based on consideration of the economic evaluation results, the methylene chloride plant with the capacity of 40.000 tons / year is worth to be studied further.
