(CONDUCTANCE)

1. Specific conductance of a decinormal solution of KCl at 18 C is 1.12Sm-1. The resistance


of a conductivity cell containing solution at the same temperature is 55ohm. What is the
cell constant?
2. The specific conductance of an N/50 solution of KCl at 25C is 0.002765 cm-1-1. If the
resistance of cell containing this solution is 400, what is the cell constant?
3. The specific conductance of N/5 KCl solution at 25C is 0.002780mho. The resistance of
the cell containing this solution is 500. Calculate the cell constant.
4. If the resistance of N/50 KCl solution in a cell is 100, calculate the cell constant.
5. Calculate the cell constant if the dimensions of the electrodes are 0.95cm & 1.015cm and
the two electrodes are separated by 0.45cm.
6. The resistance of a 0.01M solution of an electrolyte is 210 at 25C. Calculate the molar

7. The resistance of 0.5M solution of an electrolyte in a cell was found to be 45. Calculate

18. A conductivity cell is filled with 0.05M KCl. Its specific conductance and observed
resistance is 6.67x10-3-1cm-1 and 243, respectively. When the cell is filled with 0.01M
NaOH, observed resistance is 681. Calculate specific and molar conductance of 0.01M
NaOH.
19. The resistance of a cell containing 0.02M KCl solution at 25C was found to be 17. The
specific conductance of this solution is 27.7x10 -3-1cm-1. An exactly 0.01M solution of
another substance in the same cell had a resistance of 57. Calculate the equivalent
conductance of this substance.
20. In a particular cell, 0.01M solution of KCl gave a resistance of 15 while 0.01M solution
of HCl gave a resistance of 51.4 at the same temperature. If the specific conductance o
0.01M KCl is 0.1409Sm-1, calculate cell constant, specific conductance and equivalent
conductance of HCl solution.
21. A conductivity cell on being filled with a 0.02M solution at 25C showed a resistance of
165. The specific conductance of KCl solution used is 2.77x10-3-1cm-1. The same cell
containing 0.01M NaCl solution gave an electrical resistance o 384. Calculate the
specific and equivalent conductance of NaCl solution.
22. The specific conductance o water is 7.6x10-2Sm-1 and the specific conductance of 0.1M
aqueous solution of KCl is 1.1639Sm-1. A cell has a resistance of 33.20 when filled with
0.1M KCl solution and 300 when filled with 0.1M CH 3COOH solution. Calculate the
molar conductance of acetic acid.
23. A conductivity cell filled with 0.1M solution of KCl at 25C has a measured resistance of
24.96. Calculate the cell constant if the specific conductance for 0.1M solution of KCl
is 0.011639-1cm-1 and that for conductivity water is 7.5x10-8-1cm-1. When the cell is
filled with a 0.01M solution of CH3COOH, the cell resistance is 1982. Calculate the
molar conductivity of CH3COOH at this concentration.
