Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This project would attain a LoTi
level of 5. The students will need to venture into the real world to observe and then research on their
findings. They will then use this information to create a presentation through a private online weblog.
Importance of technology: Using the website will give the students the ability to communicate with each
other without the need at being at the same place every time. While this project could be created and
presented without the technology, the benefits to the learning experience far outweigh the cons. Being able
to communicate instantly, collaborate ideas and make instant changes allow the students to troubleshoot
without the headache of a mess and manual labor. To present, the student will also have access to the
classroom smartboard. This will give them the option to make the presentation interactive should they wish.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Since students will be able to choose their method of delivering
their presentations, they must get approval from the teacher if a website is acceptable for use. This will
alleviate any fears a parent may have of a group introducing material that may not be appropriate in the
school.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. Putting the students in groups is a new perspective
on this. I believe it will enhance the learning experience. I hope that the students will be able to process
more information as a group and gather a batter sense of the standard I am trying to get them to understand. 1
Other comments about your proposed activity: While the project is aimed at this particular standard, it
could be used for many different standards.
