In this natural region, the aging and urbanization of the


population is evident. Most of the countrys population
is concentrated here.

Far North

Agricultural, forestry, and farming activities are of great


importance here, which is why more than a third of the
Near North ttotal population of the political regions of Los Rios and
Los Lagos live in rural areas.

Central Chile
Most of the population is concentrated in regional capitals
aand the coast, in cities like La Serena and Coquimbo.

South
It is mostly deserted, there are only a few areas like
Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales that have consolidated
tthemselves as cities.

During the nineteenth century the pampa was populated
