I would love to offer a reference for Lucas Anderson who is applying to your school district as a
teacher. I offer him my wholehearted support and keen endorsement, as he is a charismatic and
enthusiastic educator and will do well in any endeavour he seeks within your district!

Lucas taught in my English 10 classroom intermittently from February 2016 to May 2016, and
proved to be a strong teacher. He began the semester with us for two weeks in February during
which he learned about the students and the schools procedures and systems. Lucas was keen to
learn the profession of teaching and spent many volunteer hours in school based team meetings, staff
meetings, professional development and other professional learning opportunities. I was impressed
with his desire to learn, and to create friendly relationships with the teaching staff around him. Once
in the classroom, Lucas charisma and positive energy filled the room, and the students responded
with a similar positive and energetic manner. He had a great start to his practicum at Gulf Islands
Secondary.

During his 6-week practicum in April and May 2016, Lucas taught a unit of poetry for the English 10
class. His unit plans were very well organized, and his lessons were well planned. I was offered the
lesson plans well in advance of the teaching, and could see how brilliantly he diverged from the plan
when necessary, or when the creativity of the class offered a new learning opportunity. He
completed all of the relevant curricular competencies, yet allowed for the creative expression and the
interest of the group. The keen attention of the students, and their diligent manner of completing
their assignments with depth and creativity attested to the quality of Lucas teaching.

As a colleague, Lucas had a warm, friendly and collaborative manner, always maintain a professional
demeanour, yet allowing for laughter and joy daily. It was a real pleasure to work with him in the
English 10 classroom.

I wish Lucas well with his teaching career. He is a capable, professional and enthusiastic educator
