I am going to set up a table with the sight word cards and have
each word scrambled up. The game will take place at the
language centre and I will call over 4 children at a time. The
children will work together to unscramble each sight word.
Objectives:
1. Because this is a group activity where the children work
together, the children will further develop their
Communication, language and literacy skills by Listening to
Others (3.6) The children will listen to each other with
attention without distraction or interruption.
2. The children will further develop their Phonological Awareness
(3.10) skills by taking part in sound games like this one, the
children will need to sound out the word and rely on their
phonological awareness skills in order to spell the letter.
Materials:
- 1 Table
- 4 chairs
- 1 set of sight word cards
Implementation:
1. I will call over 4 children to the language table
2. I will explain to the children that these cards we have spell out
our sight words from the word wall and it is our job to
unscramble the cards to spell the words correctly.
