UNIT: Soccer
SKILL: 1 Timers

EQUIPMENT: Small dodge balls, cones, pennies

GLCEs: M.MC.03.02, M.MC.03.05, M.MC.03.06, M.MC.03.07, M.MC.03.11,


M.MS.03.04, K.PS.03.01, K.RP.03.02, K.MS.03.04,

ACTION: students will pass the ball to each other


using the correct 1 timers method
CONDITION: students will pass the ball to each using
the correct method while trying to beat their highest
number of completed passes
CRITERION: students will pass the ball to each other
using the correct 1 timers method at least 80% of the time
during practice

ITIP FORMAT:

1. Anticipatory Set 2 min


- Who remembers the skill we worked on last
Wednesday?
- What was the main idea to remember about this skill?
- What parts of our feet were we using?

2. Objectives 2 min
- No big kicks
- Accuracy
- Keep the ball on the ground
- Count number of passes between you and your
partner
3. Explain: Model 4-8 key steps : 3 min
1) Opposite foot facing partner
Foot
2) Foot Im kick with, leg pulls back
Leg
3) Leg swings straight forward
Putter
4) Kick the ball with inside or outside of foot
Feet
5) Do not use your toes to kick the ball
NO TOES
6) Repeat steps when ball comes back
No Trap/Stop

4. Questions to check 2 min

- What is the main goal?


- What parts of my feet should I use?
- Should you trap or stop the ball?
- If the ball goes in the air does the pass count?
- Where should you be lined up?
- If the ball doesnt make it to your partners feet does
that count as a pass?

5. Mass Practice/Demo
Students will pair up. One partner gets a ball while the
other lines up on the lane line. The groups will be spread
out. The students will pass it back and forth to each other
using the 1 timer method. They must stay in the spot.
They are counting their passes, but if the ball goes into
the air/bounces, or doesnt make it to their partners feet
they must start over with their counting. When students
seem comfortable with stationary one timers, we will
move onto moving one timers. Students must stay close to
their partner, but both partner should be moving around
the gym.
(Transition -) 4 minutes
Tell students to freeze. The partners without the ball
need to come forward and in, the partner with the ball
need to hold it in both hands, not throwing the ball,
walk over to the bag, place the ball in, and sit forward
and in. Tell the students that we will be playing foosball
soccer. While they are sitting tell them what color
pennies they have, when they get their color they are to
go and get them then come forward and in again.
Explain the rules to the students. Then tell them where
to go.

6. Independent Practice or Activity


Foosball Soccer. Cones will mark the lines on the court
where the students will be standing. There will be 3-4
goalies, and 2-3 students on each other line. Students
must stay on their line, but are able to take a step off to
get around another player, but need to get back on the
line immediately. Players should move the length of their
line to get open and pass to their teammates, as well as
get a ball. Player cant use their hands, unless a ball is
flying at their face. If the ball hits the back wall between
the cones it is a goal, unless the ball was kicked and it
went into the air first. If a ball is in between lines players,
can try to get the ball if they keep on foot on the line. If no
one is able to get the ball the teacher(s) will kick it (shake
the table). There will be more than one ball on the court to
keep the game moving. Players can obtain a penalty if
they step off their line or kick their ball into the air, if this
happens they must step out of bounds and count to 20
before coming back in. Teachers will call penalties, but
students are allowed to call themselves on a mistake as
well.
7. Closure
Tell students to freeze. If they have a ball pick it up walk it
over to the bag. Everyone put their pennies away and help
pick up cones and put them on the stairs. If there is
enough time call students forward and in. Ask them what
was easy about the game this time, and what they could
have done to make them game smoother. Ask them in
anyone used 1 timers during the game, or worked on
passing to their teammates.
