FCE y FCE for Schools

Todos los aos cientos de miles de estudiantes en ms de 100 pases


presentan el FCE.
En este nivel de competencia, los candidatos debern ser capaces de:

Captar el mensaje esencial de textos con temas de carcter concreto y abstracto, y


participar activamente en una conversacin tcnica dentro de su campo de especializacin.

Comunicarse con suficiente espontaneidad y fluidez con hablantes nativos sin que la
conversacin involucre un esfuerzo especial por parte de ninguno de los interlocutores.

Expresarse de manera clara y matizada sobre temas diversos.

Ser capaces de comentar noticias de actualidad y de examinar las ventajas y


desventajas de situaciones concretas.

El certificado
El examen FCE, una vez presentado, es enviado a Inglaterra, donde es calificado por
profesionales con experiencia y capacitados para tal efecto. Se otorgan certificados a todos los
candidatos que hayan aprobado sus exmenes (con A, B o C). Adems, los candidatos reciben un
informe sobre su desempeo mediante una representacin grfica de sus resultados en cada una
de las partes del examen.

Reconocimiento
El FCE tiene el reconocimiento de empresas e instituciones de enseanza tanto en Argentina
como en otros pases.
El FCE es reconocido en numerosas universidades e instituciones de enseanza superior en
Estados Unidos, Alemania, Mxico, Australia, Brasil, Canad, Chile, Espaa, Francia, Argentina, y
el Reino Unido, entre otros pases.

El FCE consta de cuatro partes:

Parte 1
Reading and Use of English (Lectura y Uso del Lenguaje)
Evala la capacidad para leer e interpretar textos de obras de ficcin, publicaciones y
revistas. Se espera que los candidatos logren comprender los puntos principales e
identificar la estructura de los textos, as como extraer detalles especficos y deducir
significados.
Duracin: 1 hora 15 minutos.

Parte 2
Writing (Escritura)
Evala la capacidad para escribir textos, tales como cartas, informes, composiciones y
reseas. Los temas son variados y pueden incluir textos previamente seleccionados.
Los candidatos deben escribir dos textos de 120 a 180 palabras cada uno.
Duracin: 1 hora 20 minutos

Parte 3
Listening (Escucha)
En esta parte del examen los candidatos deben realizar tareas que permiten evaluar su
capacidad para reconocer y utilizar estructuras gramaticales as como el vocabulario
del idioma. Las tareas incluyen: completar textos, transformar oraciones y corregir
errores.
Duracin: 1 hora 15 minutos

Parte 4
Speaking
Los candidatos escuchan grabaciones de audio, como dilogos breves, fragmentos de
entrevistas, declaraciones pblicas y monlogos. Se evala su capacidad para
comprender los puntos centrales y extraer informacin secundaria a partir de las
grabaciones.
Duracin: Alrededor de 40 minutos

Whats in the Reading and Use of English paper?

The Cambridge English: First for Schools Reading and Use of English paper is in
seven parts and has a mix of text types and questions.

For Parts 1 to 4, students read a range of texts and do grammar and


vocabulary tasks.

For Parts 5 to 7, students read a series of texts and answer questions that test
reading ability and show that they can deal with a variety of different types of
texts.
Time allowed: 1 hour 15 minutes

Marks: 40% of total

Lengths of texts: 2,2002,500 words to read in total.

Texts may be from: Newspaper and magazine articles, reports, fiction,


advertisements, letters, messages, informational
material (e.g. brochures, guides, manuals, etc.).

Part 1 (Multiple-choice cloze)
