THE EFFECT OF AUSTENITIZATION TEMPERATURE AND HOLDING TIME OF

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES, SCALE THICK, AND MICRO STRUCTURE OF
WEAR-RESISTENT STEEL

ABSTRACT

The application of steel product has been widely used and many types of research are always
developed to look for steel with good quality, suitable for any needs, and can be produced
locally without importing. For instance, one of alloy steel that is always been developing is
Ni-Cr-Mo alloy steel with nickel, chromium, and molybdenum which can increase level of
hardness, tensile strength, tenacity, and resilience of the steel. The effect during the
production process is when the heating process is running, which lead to the shaping of layer
of iron oxide (scale) and cause steel to lose its weight. Therefore, the choosing of method and
technique of heat treatment is necessary to increase the mechanical properties such as
hardness, tensile strength, and resilience but with < 5% scale of steels weight. A research
which is done are heat treatment in austenitization temperature with 800 o, 850o, and 900o C
with holding time 20, 40, and 60 minutes and the fast cooling treatment (quenching), so the
hardness property is increased. This research does mechanical properties testing, that is,
hardness and impact testing and does metallographic observation which consists of micro
structure and scale thick observation. The micro structure that is produced from the heat
treatment process is martensite, because, the quenching changed austenite into martensite
fast. Results data of highest hardness in 850oC temperature and 60 minutes holding time is
588,35 HVN with data of impact energy and scale thick are 8,5 Joule and 91,5 m. At the
same time, results data of lowest hardness in 800oC temperature is 539,34 HVN with data of
impact energy and scale thick are 5 Joule and 47,81 m.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MANAGEMENT TRAINING EMOTION AS A

DEPRESSION RECOVERY PROGRAM TO SOLVE ADOLESCENTS
DEPRESSION IN EARTHQUAKE YOGYAKARTA

ABSTRACT

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of management training emotion in

overcoming depression in adolescents who are victims of the Yogyakarta earthquake.
Participant in this research was twenty people, who were divided into an experimental group
and a control group. The characteristic of participant used in this study were students in
second grade junior high school both men and women who are victims of the Yogyakarta
earthquake with range of 13-15 years old. The hypothesis of this research is the effectiveness
of management training emotion as a depression recovery program to decrease adolescents
depression in Yogyakarta earthquake. Measuring the level of depression is by using the Beck
Depression Inventory (BDI) at the time before training, after training, and follow-up. This
research also conducted a qualitative analysis to determine management processes emotions
that occurred in participants associated with the effectiveness of the training. The results
using the quantitative analysis found that this hypothesis is proven that management training
emotion is efective to reduce depression in adolescence victim of the Yogyakarta earthquake.
Qualitative analysis conducted found that individuals with a decrease in depression with the
highest score show the differences in management emotion process with individuals who
decrease in depression with the lowest one. Factors that cause these differences include the
type of personality, situation and conditions of the participant, and family. So these factors
should be give the more attention in order to improve the effectiveness of training.
