UNB AND CCNB PARTNER TO DELIVER

AUTISM INTERVENTION TRAINING PROGRAM
As World Autism Awareness Day approaches, the University of New Brunswick College
of Extended Learning (UNB CEL) and the Collge communautaire du Nouveau-
Brunswick (CCNB) are proud to announce that they are teaming up to deliver the
award-winning Autism Intervention Training Certificate Program (AIT) across the
Province of New Brunswick and throughout Canada.

We are very excited to be partnering with CCNB as we collaborate and grow the
Autism and Applied Behaviour suite of offerings, says Trisha Fournier-Hoyt, program
director at UNB CEL. Through CCNBs connections and partnerships with other
community colleges throughout the country, this partnership will allow the AIT
program to be made available to participants in every province.

The AIT program teaches the skills needed to apply effective interventions and modify
the behaviour of individuals who present with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and
other behavioural challenges. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be
eligible to apply to write the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) examination, an
international certification standard set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.

The CCNB AIT program teaches evidence-based practices and established treatments
that have proven to be effective in working with individuals with behavioural
disorders. Using blended learning methods, participants have an opportunity to
practice the theoretical components of what they learn in a hands-on environment,
in different regions of the province and throughout Canada.

UNB CEL developed the award-winning program in 2004. The program has since been
offered in NB, Saskatchewan, and France.

The program will be a good fit for many college programs and past graduates of
early childhood, human services, health nurse and youth care worker and others
working with children, youth, and adults with complex needs, says Michel Doucet,
Executive Director of Continuing Education at CCNB.

The program is scheduled to begin this fall and will be offered in both English and
French. The 13-week program consists of 21 modules offered online, followed by an
internship. Interested persons may contact the CCNB - Campbellton Campus at 506
789-6542.
