Hello Sir,

I am not sure if I should term this as a suggestion or complaint.

My son is a hemophilic which is a genetic disorder. (Its a rare blood disorder wherein blood does not
clot). As of today there is no 100% cure for it and the treatment cost is quite high. Govt. of India do give
the required factor free of cost at hemophilia treatment center (80+ centers do exists throughout India
in various cities.) The treatment is On Demand. In spite of an initiative by NGOs and hemophilia
federation and state govt health dept. efforts, the fact remains same means, the stock is limited at the
centres and stock flush quickly or the factor is not available to patients when needed and the patients
are in deep pain. The alternative treatment for such patients is either blood transfusion or use fresh
plasma which is a product extracted from blood. Its quite risky as chances of getting infected may be
HIV + or any other blood borne disorder. Ironically these patients already are struggling to live a normal
life and with this kind of threat of getting exposed to blood borne disease they are forced to live a
miserable life. The sad part is the sufferers are the kids, teenagers and youth. Just to portrait few simple
cases, these patients cannot be given regular injections; vaccines as blood do not clot. The required
factor has to be injected then the vaccine has to be given , in fact this is true with any treatment where
injection has to be given, Loosing baby tooth is natural phenomenon and for this natural thing its
nightmare for the kids with hemophilia and their parents. Playing in gardens and on playground is first
wish of any kid, these patients cant play, as chances of have any injury and knees or joint damage might
lead for permanent disabilities to them. In other countries the patients are treated not On Demand
but are on prophylaxis, means the patient with hemophilia is given the required factor (medicine)
weekly twice or thrice. A low dose also plays an important role and is really a boon for them to live a
normal life. With prophylaxis patients do live absolutely normal life as others. Now why such treatment
is not available in India. Its because of cost associated with the factors. All the required factors are
imported from either USA or Europe or some other country. We have around 25000 registered patients
in India and in reality might be even more and we import the factors from other countries. I was just
doing some review on condition in other countries the small country say Korea , they do have only 2500
patients and they have a facility or a company who manufacture the required factors or other required
medicines in their own country and even export. Then a question comes in my mind where do we as a
nation do lag. After Jan Aushadhi Scheme came into picture the medicines is now available at
reasonable and affordable prices even most low income economical group of our society. Just to give an
example we have Govt. manufacturing facilities say Hindustan antibiotic in pune which is on the verge to
close down the operations. Why not MAKE IN INDIA. I may be absolute stupid in saying this but why to
depend on other nation to manufacture. At least it does not suit to me as an Indian.

Secondly, not a single insurance company in India does provide an insurance policy to these patients.
This is something trying to snatch their right to live with dignity. I personally have faced denial of issuing
insurance policy for my 20 months baby. The reason was, my kid does have hemophilia, this is
something un acceptable. Insurance companies do provide insurance to smokers, drug addicts and
heavy drinkers, also have rehabilitation centers, insurance is available for a mobile (which costs less than
rs.3000/-), machines more over insurance schemes are also available for pet animals like cats and
dogs but is not given to a person with a genetic disorder, and more over its not of his fault. (1/3 of the
patients are victims of spontaneous mutation. Does he or his family do not have any right to live a
normal life. Is it because others are being gifted a normal life and these are been specially gifted.

I have taken the policy particularly when it was been displayed on the webpage that the policy is mainly
for hemophilic patients. When I asked why the policy is been denied, the reply was by mistake a draft
content was been uploaded on webpage and after realizing our mistake we have removed the particular
webpage. I had even raised this issue to IRDA, but unfortunately nothing happened. By denying the
policy by ROYALSUNDARAM makes me feel as if whatever hospitalization, medication required for my
baby is only because of hemophilia and nothing else. According to them, his viral infection or swine flu is
going to infect him only because he is a hemophilic, which is absolutely wrong. I am attaching the web
page content when I had opted for the policy for my kid and afterwards a lot of email communication
happened and finally the policy was denied to my kid on the ground of genetic disorder.

Now recently disability due to hemophilia is been included in disability bill, 2016. A disabled person will
get covered in some insurance or med claim policy but nothing for normal person with hemophilia. Its
strange. In other words the patient has to get disabled first and then he is eligible for the cover.

There are many issues associated with such genetic disorder. Say it may be guilt for women or mother as
she is a carrier of the defective gene, or it may be educational problem of kids due to hemophilia. I can
narrate many. But I am a strong believer and have a faith that if the medication is provided at
affordable cost and at right time 99 % of the issues will be automatically resolved and disability itself will
not come into picture.

Again I dont want to complain about the situation and I do accept the fact also, I have a strong feeling
that things will change and those has to change. I may not be in a position, where I can make the
change. From my side I am ready to do whatever I can. As I am from the land of Maharashtra, and a
follower of Lokmana Tilak I love to recite ,

Dear divya,

Thanks for your email. You have just copy pasted the earlier email and not addressed the actual cause. Right from day one I am saying
that i had taken policy based on the information which was available on web page and even had a word many time before actuall going ahead for the payment of the
policy. After wards you had removed the content from your web site stating it was draft and bla bla and denying the policy with a reason of hemophilia. Tomorrow you
(do not to take personally!) will say that the entire website is on testing and we are doing our the sanity check and finding the error and removing the content. To find
out your error why i should get suffered. I have taken the policy after reading the web content and having word with the person who is part of your company. Kindly let
me know why i should not put up a case for mental agony against you for denying the policy as it has caused a lot of harassment to me since last couple of weeks.

I even has said that you can put hemophilia as an exclusion for life time. Not an issue. I have even said that i am ready to pay a higher premium than what is been
charged say 2 times.

Kindly revert back to me on the above so that i can take further action. Looking forward to issuing policy to me with an exclusion of hemophilia.

Details of complain :
I have taken a policy for my son , who is a hemophiliac after reading on royal sundaram's website that the royal sundarams policy do cover hemophilia as well. I am
also attaching the snap of the web page (now this content is been removed from the website, after my policy is been denied!)

Not only the website, before proceeding for the payment i had several calls to the call centre and had several times with Mr. Pravin of royal sundaram about
confirmation on hemophilia coverage. He has told me that he does have a approval from his TL/PL and i can take online policy. I had paid money online and after two
days royal sundaram has denied the policy stating that the kid is having hemophilia.

Now, its something wrong, and i had asked royal sundaram to issue me the policy as i had taken the policy as hemophilia is been covered and it was mentioned. After
sending them this reply royall sundaram has removed the particular content from website and gave a reason that some draft content was been uploaded on
website....... and we can not issue a policy as hemophilia is a genetic disorder.

This is something wrong, as i have taken the policy as it covers hemophilia as mentioned on website and even while talking with the telecommunicator Mr. Pravin and
even mentioned in the form for opting the policy. After that i have even said you can either increase the premium to say 2 times and issue the policy and i am ok with it.
Still policy is not been issued to me .

All this has caused a lot of mental agony for me as well. I would request you to kindly look into the matter and help me.
