April Fluttering Facts Ms. Kimpston and the Butterflies ‘The butterflies are locking forward to being able to enjoy nice, warm weather! We hope that spring is FINALLY here! This month looks to be an exciting one filled with lots of learning & Unit Study: During the month of April we will continue to work on comprehension skills (being able to retell a story-knowing beginning, middle, and end) as well es continuing to work on the concept of relating what we have read to our own life (this is called text to self-reading). We will finish our Fairy Tale, Folk Tale, and Fable mini unit, ddo two vocabulary study mini units using the books “Make Way for Ducklings" and “Edward the Emu" and also learn all about our weather. In Writing we will finish working on our how to writing, complete our informational writing prompt, and begin cur opinion writing uni. During our math time we will continue Investigations Unit 4 (measurement), work on story problems (both addition and subtraction-this includes writing the number sentence as well as showing our work). Finaly, our content area will be studying lving/nonliving with a focus on plants and other ‘animals. We will do this through nonfiction reading, writing, and songs. Coats. Hats. and Gloves: Aithough it has become a bit warmer, and snow pants and beots are no longer needed, itis still very cool in the mornings and the wind is very crisp on our Playground. Please make sure that you send a warm coat, hat, and mittens/gloves with your child every doy until at least the end of April. We still have illness ‘runing in our classroom and I'd like everyone to stay healthy the last few weeks of school. Thanks for your help with this. Upcoming Events: Remember that there is no school for students on Friday, April 14* (Good Friday Holiday), Friday, April 21" (Teacher Professional Development Day), and Friday, ‘April 28" (Kindergarten Round up for next year's kindergorten students), Other dates to be aware of are: K-2 Music concert wil be Tuesday, April 26", and Orange ‘School's Leader Tn Me Leadership Day is Thursday, April 27% Thank you Miss Haller! ‘April 13* wl be Miss Heller's last day in our classroom. We hope she has learned as much from us as we have fromher. We will miss her but wish her much success as she enters the teaching field. ‘We hope you all have an AWESOME Aprill US: Aunfst7?
