Probability terminology

Theoretical probability: Prediction of what is likely to happen in an experiment. Used when events are random
and equally likely.

Event: One or more outcomes of an experiment

Favorable outcomes: Ways that the event can occur

Total number of possible outcomes or number of outcomes in the sample space: Total number of outcomes
possible including the favorable and unfavorable outcomes.

P = # of favorable outcomes / # of possible outcomes
