Modeling of generators, transformers, lines, cables, and loads. The per-unit
system.
Fault Current Calculations 22 Hrs.
Types of fault, calculation of three-phase balanced fault currents, sequence
networks and unsymmetrical fault calculation, fault current limiting.
Load Flow Studies 16 Hrs.
Load flow in radial and simple loop networks, various methods of solution, the
Gauss- Seidel and Newton-Raphson methods.
Power System Stability 16 Hrs.
Concepts, steady-state, transient and dynamic stability, equal-area criterion.
Power System Protection 16 Hrs.
Definitions and terminology, basic requirements, protection zones, primary and back-
up protection. Basic types of relays. Overcurrent, Differential, Directional, and
Distance protection systems.
Grounding Methods 6 Hrs.
Electrode material, types and configurations, simple grounding network
calculations.
High Voltage Equipment, Measurements, and Testing 8 Hrs,
Breakdown in uniform and nonuniform fields, impulse generators, HV testing
transformers, insulator test techniques.
