6.5 Normal Approximation to the Binomial

The first application of a continuous probability distribution to approximate probabilities

over a discrete sample space was demonstrated in Example 6.12, where the normal curve was
used. The normal distribution is often a good approximation to a discrete distribution when the
latter takes on a symmetric bell shape. From a theoretical point of view, some distributions
converge to the normal as their parameters approach certain limits. The normal distribution is a
convenient approximating distribution because the cumulative distribution function is so easily
tabled. The binomial distribution is nicely approximated by the normal in practical problems
when one works with the cumulative distribution function. We now state a theorem that allows
us to use areas under the normal curve to approximate binomial properties when n is
sufficiently large.

Example 6.12 demonstrated about the first application of the approximation probabilities of
discrete sample space by a continuous probability distribution. When a discrete distributions
shape is a symmetric bell, then normal distribution is often good approximation to it.
Theoretically, the converge of some distributions to the normal is corresponding with the
approximate of their parameters to the certain limits. The cumulative distribution function is so
easy to be tabled. Hence, the normal distribution is a convenient approximating distribution. If
one works with the cumulative distribution function, then the binomial distribution in practical
problem is good to be approximated by normal. To approximate binomial properties when n is
sufficiently large, we need a theorem that make us able to use areas under the normal curve. Now
we state that theorem.

Hello Devita, thank you for collect your work on time. I think your new paragraph is good
enough, but there are some mistakes in your job. In third sentence, I think it will be good if you
replace the word converge to convergence. For the fourth sentence, you use the sentence
the cumulative distribution function is so easy to be tabled. Hence, the normal distribution is a
convenient approximating distribution, in my opinion it was a bit hard to understand, maybe
you can make another simple sentence to replace that. But overall that is a good job ^^.

In Example 6.12 before, we used normal curve to approximate probabilities over a discrete
sample space. If the outcome is a symmetric bell shape, then we know that the normal
distribution is a good approximation for a discrete distribution. According to a theoretical point
of view, if the parametes are close to particular limits, the distributions may be normal. The
cumulative distribution function on normal distribution is so easy to record. In practical
problems, the binomial distribution is approximated well. It occurs when we works with the
cumulative distribution function. From the explanation above, we can state a theorem if n is large
enough, we can use areas below the normal curve to approximate binomial characters.

Thank you for collect your paragraph on time. I think it is a good paragraph, but there is a typo
in third sentence. It is parameters, not parametes. In the fourth sentence, you only explain that
the cumulative distribution function on normal distribution is so easy to record, it think it will
be good if you add the impact of the cumulative distribution function on normal distribution is
so easy to record. And for the last sentence, we can state a theorem if n is large enough, we can
use areas below, I think it will be better if you change the second we can into that. But I
think your paragraph is a good one.

New Paragraph

In the example 6:12 used the normal curve, which shows the first application of a
continuous probability distribution to approximate probabilities over a discrete sample space. If
the symmetrical bell-shaped curve then the normal distribution is a good approximation for
discrete distributions. The normal distribution is used as the parameter approaches from several
other distributions. The normal distribution is used as a distribution approach for the combined
functions easily in the data. When working on the binomial distribution with cumulative
distribution function, it is better to use the normal distribution approach. To approximate the
binomial properties when n is large enough we can use the theorem that allows us to use the area
under the normal curve.

Thank you for Fildza to send me the new paragraph on time. Okay, I think your paragraph is
good, but there are some mistakes. First, in the sentence 1, you write 6:12 the right one is
6.12. Then, for the second sentence, If the symmetrical bell-shaped curve, I think it will
be have the same meaning with the original paragraph if you add word latter, so it will be If
the latter is symmetrical bell-shaped curve. In my opinion, the third and fourth sentence has
similar structure, it would be better if you try to search for synonyms or other sentence structure
to be more varied. For the fourth sentence, I think your new sentence have different meaning
with the original. I think you should practice more, but overall is good. Keep fighting^^

Normal Approximation to the Binomial (aproksimasi normal pada binomial)

The normal curve used in the first application of a continous probability distribution to
approximate probabilities over a discrete sample space was demonstrated in example 6.12.
Approximation which good to used for a discrete distribution when the latter takes on a
symmetric bell shape is normal distribution. Some distribution converge to the normal as their
parameters approach certain limit, if viewed from a theoretical certain limits. The normal
distribution is a convenient approximating distribution. The cumulative distribution function of
normal distribution is so easily tabled. When one works with the cumulative distribution
function, the binominal distribution is prettily approximated by the normal. Now, theorem can
constructed that allow us to use areas under the normal curve to approximate binomial properties
when n is sufficiently large.

Thank you for Pandu that send the new paragraph on time. There are some mistakes in
your work. In the first sentence you have typo the word continous it should be continuous, in
the third sentence, the word some distribution it should be some distributions. Then, I think
you have misunderstanding in the second sentence. In your fourth and fifth sentence, you just
split the sentence 4 (original paragraph) so it will be good if you make another one that more
creative but have same meaning with the original. But I think it is a good paragraph.

In example 6.12, showed the first application of a continuous probability distribution to
approximate probabilities over a discrete sample space, where the normal curve was used. The
good approximation to discrete distribution that the latter takes on a symmetric bell shape the
normal distribution. Theoritically, as their parameters that approach certain limits, so some
distributions converge to a normal. As the cumulative distribution function is so easily tabled, so
the normal distribution is a convenient approximating distribution. When one works with the
cumulative function, the binomial distribution is nicely approximated by thenormal in practical
problems. Now declare the theorem that enable to use areas under tthe normal curve to
approximate binomial properties when n is large enough.

Thanks for Yuli that send me her work on time. Ok yuli, there are some typos on your job, first
Theoritically theoretically, thenormal the normal and tthe the. Maybe, you
must check your work before you send it. After I read your paragraph, in your paragraph there
are some misconceptions. But I think your work is good enough.

Thank you Nadya, I think your work is good, but you must be more creative to make the
new sentence, because your sentence is little bit similar with the original paragraph. Maybe you
can use the synonym of some words, it will be good to make different one but have same
meaning with the original.

New paragraph:
Based on Example 6.12, which show about the first application of the approximation
probabilities of discrete sample space by a continuous probability distribution. If a discrete
distributions shape is a symmetric bell, then normal distribution is often has good approximation
with the discrete distribution. Based on the theory, the converge of some distributions to the
normal is corresponding with the approximate of their parameters to the certain limits. Because
the cumulative distribution function very easily tabulated, normal distribution becomes a
distribution easy approach. If one works with the cumulative distribution function, then the
binomial distribution in practical problem is good to be approximated by normal. To approximate
binomial properties when n is sufficiently large, we need a theorem that make us able to use
areas under the normal curve. Now we state that theorem.

Thank you Risma, I think it is a good job. But I have revision for your paragraph, for the first
sentence Example 6.12, which show about the first application, I think it will be good if
you change the word which show into that showed. In the third sentence the word
converge should be convergence. In my opinion, your work is the best ones, because you
make it easy to understand. Good job Risma^^
