To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter of recommendation for Brandie Kline who served as an MSU intern
for the 2016-2017 school year. I had the opportunity as her field instructor to observe and
evaluate her teaching from August until the end of April. She taught in one of the most
racially and culturally diverse schools in the state of Michigan. It also included students
with IEPs and English language learners which Brandie made successful accommodations
for during each of her lessons that I observed.

Brandies classroom management skills were exceptionally high. She was clear and exact
when telling students what was expected of them and if there was misbehavior, she quietly
talked to the student and redirected him or her. Rules and routines were reinforced
constantly for the students and she used different strategies to motivate the students to stay
focused. She truly created a positive learning environment. She developed relationships
with the students that helped foster a community of inclusion, empowerment and
listening. Her passion for teaching and her attention to the smallest detail in her classroom
is what helped her have such a successful year. She incorporated her experiences with
agriculture through a school-wide professional development opportunity for the staff. She
also included elements of agriculture in her lessons which created a more robust learning
experience for her students. Truly, Brandie showed maturity beyond most teaching interns
and had a solid understanding of how to run a classroom successfully.
College of
Education Brandie also had a high standard of professionalism with students, parents and school staff.
She and her mentor teacher had a great working relationship and Brandie even proved to
Teacher Education be a leader among her peers. I also believe what made her such an effective teacher is her
ability to reflect and improve. During debriefing after lessons, Brandie was able to
Michigan State
University successfully identify where she needs to grow and then finds ways to develop.

the best in her future endeavors. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
