Ancient of moo moo

We have to decide if we are a mythic raiding guild or if we are a casual heroic raiding
guild with occasional tries at mythic. I would go for a mythic raiding guild. That means
we need a core of some 15 members with a mythic raiding team consisting of some 30
raiders for a rotation or if someone cant make it etc. This by itself means we have to
evaluate everyone and base our decisions of performance and attendance.
Normal/heroic raids should be used as a practice ground and as a means to look for
people who could go mythic raiding. It would require us reevaluating the ranking
system in the guild, maybe changing the current rank of Raider into Core raider for
some of the people and filling up the Raider rank with people who could go mythic but
couldnt do it every single time due to real life issues or performance issues or
whatever. I imagine that this could be achieved by some simple steps. One, a notice in
the GMOTD or in the information or in the calendar where those who are concerned by
such a change would be informed. An open meeting of sorts could be held where it
would be explained to everyone so if anyone has a problem with that they can speak
their minds. There are people who want to raid, but we surely dont know about all of
them, so there could be a notice that would allow people like that to contact the
designated officers and tell them of their wish to raid, that would allow the officers to
plan accordingly and think about the possible roster or the possibilities to try out these
people. A meeting like that would also be a good place to state the rules or
requirements for raiding. The rules would be simple: 000) chitchat however much you
like when killing trash. Stay silent and let the RL or the designated people call out
things when the boss is being killed 1) know the tactics either from youtube or
wowhead or icyveins or whatever. If you dont know them or youre not sure about a
certain mechanic, ask beforehand. Its not a shameful thing. 2) come prepared, that
means having food, flasks, tomes to change talents, potions to increase the
throughput and healing tonics (augmentation runes would be a bonus, but we should
be realistic). 3) addons. There is no excuse not having the addons that are listed in the
guild info page. 4) loot. The system used should depend on our stance. If we are a
mythic guild, the loot should be distributed by LC to ensure the best possible chance
at progressing in mythic. If we stay a casual heroic guild, theres nothing wrong in
using PL. LC can be worked on, I still think that a LC of five would solve some
problems, since we are not homogenous enough and there are people who raid
primarily due to loot. Such an LC would have a fixed number of officers and lets say
two random raiders every raid, chosen by random rolls. That would negate all
prejudices and any nepotism (Im not saying it exists, but I think some people would
think it to be true, and this would remove their doubts). A LC has to have clear
guidelines about distributing loot: DPS -> Heal -> Tank; MS -> OS -> second OS ->
Tmog. Loot should also be given according to these parameters (no particular order):
attendance, performance, potential upgrade (iLVL wise), potential upgrade
(performance wise), is it BiS. Some examples: a) suppose a 920 relic drops. People
rolling for it are Devil and Chicken. its +15 upgrade for Devil and +10 upgrade for
Chicken but it has the BiS trait for Chicken. imho it should go to Chicken, given their
performance and attendance are similar. b) suppose a 920 relic drops, Chicken and
Sentwin roll for that. +10 upgrade for Chicken, +30 upgrade for Sentwin. Chicken has
been there all the time, Sentwin has been there for half the amount of times. Imho it
should go to Chicken. and so on. Going back to an extended LC, yes, it would make
loot distribution a longer task. There are ofc addons which could be used. 5)
preparation for raids. We could start using RT more, especially the note tab, as in
preparing notes for each encounter well in advance and save some time explaining
what to do (this one relates to number 1).
All in all, a meeting with all (or as many as possible) of the players who are interested
in raiding would be a good idea if we decide we want to progress mythics. Everyone
would get the chance to speak their minds and maybe offer some advice or
suggestions. And discussions like that should also promote homogeneity in the guild
and some more trust between the players. And a meeting like this would also be a
good place to tell everyone that a mythic raid is not the casual walk in the park stuff.
There will be calling out, there will be flashes of anger or irritation about people not
performing. Mythic is either to be taken seriously or not raided at all. I mean, if
someone is not prepared to put an effort and try hard, someone should step away and
give his or her spot to someone else.
Speaking about the roster, I dont know if we should recruit anyone who just goes
around whispering hey can I join the guild. I guess it can work for now but if we are
to take ToS seriously, there have to be some changes in the recruitment policy I guess.
Then again if there is the desire to remain a large guild with this social aspect, the
current system is more or less ok-ish. The people that are being recruited for mythics
though should be treated as trials. But if we dont perform as a whole, we cant
honestly expect them to give their all and top the meters or parse in oranges.
Warcraftlogs is a good indicator of things that are happening and I guess it can be
used to differentiate between the possible Core raider and Raider ranks as in a two or
three week trial, to just look over the progress of some of our current Raiders (like the
whole Aqira situation and stuff like that). And I guess thats more or less it about the
whole raiding and roster issues.
The other issues that should be addressed. One, do we stay on TS for the old time
sakes or do we move on to discord or stuff that allows both offline mode and picture
sharing and whatnot. The guild website, be it on enjin or somewhere else, might also
be a good idea. For example, the Odyn M fight. A picture could be made with the
relative positions of each mark on P3 and posted online, so there is no oh shit where
do I go now bullshit during the fight. I mean, there would be a place to post a
proposed tactic with people being able to share their own suggestions and stuff like
this. As far as Im aware, discord app has this functionality, right?
The officers in the guild. Who is responsible for what? I see you as the RL who could
and would push us further. I myself can try and help you. Same goes for Soira I think.
What about the other officers though? I understand Helios and Oom are the original
founders of the guild.
What else. The raid calendar perhaps? I would suggest sticking to the current format
for now. With a possible addition of a raiding Sunday or maybe Monday. This could also
be done in a mass talk with the guildmates. I mean, there have to be at least two
mythic nights. One night for a heroic clear. One day could be used for either outdated
mythics/heroics/normals maybe? Suppose a Monday evening raid for alts maybe? Most
of the raiders have at least one alt. This can also be used to a great advantage when
ToS opens. I mean, a possibility of split raids? And maybe a Sunday night raid in
ToV/EN mythic? Well either way, that can be easily achieved by just asking the
opinions of others and just looking at the activity of people.
Well these are the things that come to my mind at the moment. Im sure more issues
could be found. But I just cant think of any right now. Anyways, I would appreciate
some feedback. And hopefully an officer meeting could be held sooner rather than
later.
