ABSTRAK
Latar belakang: Kanker merupakan penyebab kematian terbanyak kedua setelah
penyakit kardiovaskular. ABSTRACT
Background: Cancer is the second leading cause of death, right behind
cardiovascular disease. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide. Breast cancer is a solid tumor, but responsive to chemotherapy, so the chemotherapy be the one of the main capital in the treatment of breast cancer. Myelosuppression effect of chemotherapy can causes decrease of blood cell. This study aims to compare the hematology profiles of breast cancer patient between pre-chemotherapy and post-chemotherapy. Methods: retrospective design used medical records of 61 patients with breast cancer who seek chemotherapy treatment at RSP Unhas in 2015. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test to determine differences of hemoglobin concentration, leukocytes, and platelets between pre and post-chemotherapy. Results: There were significant differences in hemoglobin concentration between pre and post-chemotherapy (p=0,00). There were significant differences in total leukocytes between pre and post-chemotherapy (p=0,049). There were significant differences in total platelets between pre and post-chemotherapy (p=0,00). Conclusion: The chemotherapy has a significant side-effect to hemoglobin concentration, leukocytes, and platelets in patients with breast cancer in RSP Unhas. Key words: Breast cancer, chemotherapy, hemoglobin, leukocytes, platelets.
