PROMPT #1: Describe the world you come fromfor example, your family, community or

schooland tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

I come from a community that is heavily influenced by the Mexican culture. The culture

has shaped me to become a studious student. However, due to living comfortably with a

population with the same demographics, I am not fond of traveling outside of the state.

Coming from a Mexican family, a lot is expected of me. I am told repeatedly to study and

not to slack off from school. My parents want me to achieve a career and not become a hard

labor worker like them. They want me become a hard worker who uses their mind instead of my

physical body.

In addition, due to my demographic living condition, I do not want to step out of the

state. For my education and career, I would like to remain in california. I have seen in the news

that most ethnicities are not welcome in most states. In addition, due to the recent political

activity I am scared of facing prejudice if I move out of my state. Overall, I have happy living in

a state where my ethnicity is not taken into account in a negative way.

PROMPT #2: Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or

experience that is important to you.

Why does this make you proud and how does it relate to the person have become?

My early college experience is important to me. It has given me an insight of the

educational challenges and social challenges to expect at the college level. For example, it has

given me an overview of how students manage their college schedule and work schedule. In

addition, it gave me a reality of how some people are truly are. Some individuals are selfish and

will do anything to reach their goals. Lastly, my early college experience prepares me for the

transition to college from high school.

First of all, the experience I have received from college through the CAAP program has

given me an insight of the future challenges it will create for me. As a clarification, It has

prepared me for the reality of college life after high school. I have seen students stress out about

finals and midterms while managing their work schedule. Furthermore, I have also seen the

pressure of paying for college on students. However, I did not have to face their challenges

because I am currently a full-time high school student who is enrolled in the CAAP program.

In addition, my college experience gave me an insight of how peoples personalities can

be outside of high school. I have learned that I am going to have to interact with people who may

lack respect for their peer . Also, I learned that I am going to have to work with people who are

extremely selfish. Finally, based on my college experience I will have to be respectful to people

with different educational backgrounds than myself.

Furthermore, my college experience reveals the transition to college from high school.

Professors expect a lot from their students and will not hold their hand throughout the semester.

In addition, college exams require more critical thinking than high school exams. Lastly, it is a
students responsibility to arrive on time for their class since the consequences are harsher. I will

need to adapt to these changes so it will not affect my academic career in the first semester of

college.

The early college experience I have receive is critical to me. The experience showed me

what conflicts I will have during my college life. Also, it reveal to me that some people act

immature outside their high school life. In addition, my experience shows what challenges I will

need to face during the transition to college from high school.
